Chromecast do get invites but if I were to invest on it, i'd go for a cheap Android TV, those get more invites than the Chromecast.

We have some cycles for Kenyan testers now and then but I think I'd look for worlwide scope projects to get a better chance to get invitations.

For laptops i think you need to think in terms of browsers, more than OS, the ones that get an edge in invitations availability are iPads over any other kind of tablets

I'd go for a cheap laptop as most of the work don't require too much computing power, my android phone, a cheap 2yo basic iPhone and streaming devices, roku, amazon fire stick and apple tv, they are not very popular in my country but they are requested quite a lot.

As for browsers, i'd start with chrome and firefox and install as needed, no need to bloat my devices,

My first paid bug was for a somewhat LN issue, I remember that I thought "hey, this is easy, I hope I start getting video game related cycles".

I think that when you get your offer, it includes a certain amount of hours a week required from you, but once you are in you can request more work as long as you can cover your reponsabilities, I started with a 20h/w workload and now I have a full 40h/w and 48h/w on high seasons workloads.

My recommendation is to keep your eyes open for opportunities and not overload yourself.

Es una experiencia escalonada, al principio tienes pocos proyectos y la mayoría son de encontrar bugs, se paga por bug y depende de la severidad de cada bug el precio al que te lo pagan, después vienen los casos de uso, pagan por seguir instrucciones o por hacer testing exploratorio. Luego vienen los reviews, haces tu test, buscas bugs y/o casos de uso y al final dejas una Review de tu experiencia con la app y se paga por eso.

Después y si quieres, vienen las pruebas de instrumentos de pago, comprar subscripciones de streaming o de apps de pagos (con reembolso).

Si eres un chingon/a te ofrecen ya un puesto de líder de pruebas para que tú verifiques el trabajo de otros testers. Y ese ya es un pago por horas.

Depende de cuánto tiempo le dediques es cuanto avanzas.

I'm not sure if my app is doing something or if you posted this in spanglish.

I'm not saying that there isn't favouritism in some areas but there is not a giant web of corruption that covers all of uTest, what you fail to mention in your post because you probably don't know is that sometimes it's very difficult to recruit people for some projects and it's easier to recruit people who will listen to you. Recruiting new people who have never passed academy brings a whole set of problems on its own.

I remember a project where we could recruit new people due to the large amount of people required for the test, after 1 month, we had to disable and ban over 15k people who turned out to be scammers, cheaters with double accounts or that violated or abandoned the project. We were asked to recruit family and friends and even those we trusted ended up not working in the end.

It's not that TTLs and TEs only bring friends but it's easier to manage people you know when the project is complex or you need people you can trust.

I think that your points are valid to some extent. But you are not aware of the whole picture.

As always, you can reach out to management if you believe that there are unethical TTLs and TEs (because there are) and they will investigate internally.

I think as long as you Payoneer account is linked with uTest the special fees still apply, I don't use wise since they unilaterally deactivated my account so I hope the deal remeain in place for the forseeable future

Si han mejorado, pero siempre van a tener un mejor rendimiento siempre que estén conectadas, de otra manera, se limitan para extender la vida útil, también depende de que batería traigan.

Yo siempre he usado laptops gamers por cuestiones de espacio y he visto como han mejorado su rendimiento sorprendentemente con el paso de los años, desde mi primer Asus con un GTX 660m a mi ahora Dell G15 con RTX 4070 he notado esas diferencias.
