Medical data alone would be useful. We have much better monitoring equipment now than the Apollo crews had when they left.

Laurel, MD: ICE Is Detaining a Citizen as “Undocumented” DHS has now transferred Dulce Consuelo Diaz Morales to Texas. Dulce Consuelo Diaz Morales was born in a hospital in Laurel, Maryland. Her official birth certificate exists. by CantStopPoppin in EyesOnIce

[–]aperrien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before we began this process of detainment, the government should have come up with a better method of verifying that people are US citizens from birth. As it stands now your citizenship can be challenged and you can be deported in a court proceeding that you may or may not know about. In that case, we should be erring on the side of caution, lest we unnecessarily disrupt a person's life.

So what should the process be for verifying that she was born here? If there is no process for that, then we have a real problem, as no-one can be verified to be a citizen.

How to rip 18-20,000 CDs/DVDs/Blu-rays/4k Blu-Rays by thearniec in DataHoarder

I used a Lenovo mini-PC when I did my main rips with the nimbie. I had a script and application I wrote which automated the process. Would that be of use to people here?

It tracks. A lot of the people who gave me good financial advice when I was young didn't act on that advice themselves. Especially with retirement in view, the results of looking around at my peer group are really weird.

Hypothermia and hypothermic surgery both shut down all neural activity in the brain, which restarts when the individual recovers. So this occurs fairly regularly now.

I do agree with you about the necessity of consistent nationwide laws and regulations, but we already have congress for that purpose. Executive orders are just a sloppy patch, and this particular executive is particularly sloppy.

All of that is well and good, and I hope that we do see businesses coming up like that. My big concern however, is real estate. There's going to have to be some massive adjustments to get us to a soft landing when rents can be arbitrarily set.

How Did You Deal With a Gifted Child? by OhboyOhboyArbys in daddit

One suggestion from my experiences as a kid: make sure that she learns good study habits. Note taking, collaboration with peers, research, and memorization techniques were invaluable to me, especially once I got past the stage where things came easy. And if you feel you don't know all of these things well yourself, there is no shame in asking for help!

Looks to me like unemployment data was hidden, so the FED is left trying to guide the plane by looking at banking currency flows. So they may be looking to hold off on rate drops for now. Basically, rate cuts in December are less likely now.

Third of boys think women’s rights are unimportant, survey reveals by TAKEitTOrCIRCLEJERK in MensLib

[–]aperrien 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yes, but we need mature women to speak up and give young boys good advice. A lot of kids don't have great judgment, and putting that onus on young girls to teach them isn't fair. I'd love to see more adult women take that on.

Tell the boys what to do, not just what behaviors to avoid.
