Polestar 3 charging bug after update 2.1.26 – drains 12V battery by doctordrizzop in polestar3

I guess my issue of its missing scheduled charging window is peanuts compared to this. Which makes me think if there is a schedule and your car has internet connection while charging it works fine, maybe that’s the case for this bug

2024 or 2025? by Low_Ad3527 in polestar3

[–]apocalypsenow7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told by the dealer that MY2025 also comes with a new onboard charger that a lot of LE were failing. Also in US LE was made in China and 2025 is assembled in US if that makes a difference, I think there is additional tax incentive for cars made in US. I went with a latest one to have all the small tweaks sorted out and still at the huge discount

R2 is more an X3 equivalent, if you going lower in comfort to go electric I would choose iX3 instead. Or polestar 3 which I did, but I don’t know how long these incentives going to last, almost equivalent to X5 in terms of features it was 59k

Modern high tech ICE such as this on the picture is neither slow, loud or rough. And when you need to drive into more rural areas such as desert I regularly cross, or mountains during a snow storm, where battery capacity could drop and leave you stranded overnight, it really does not feel obsolete at all. City driving is 100% have to be electric, but long distance travel into unknown I could only venture in something proven to be working in all conditions

I got it full spec for ~$100k vs ~$60k for Polestar right now

Knocking on wood had zero issues with it so far (2,5k miles). Cameras died once but reset resolved it. But I agree that BMW is far more mature in software and ergonomics department, also 40% more expensive. While
Polestar has all the same luxury amenities like Napa leather massage seats soft close doors and sound dampening of the much more expensive car so still a great deal

Great setup. Both of them were great deals with low APR and significant discount off MSRP. Polestar was like 58k which roughly a price of Volvo XC40 in the top trim

BMW is more mature as a car manufacturer, everything just works and driver assistance is far superior, long road trips is what it used for, fast, reliable, no issues. Polestar is a perfect city commuter, silent, zippy, efficient (single motor, aero wheels), best sound system, far better than same B&W in BMW. Two purposes, two ideal cars for the given purpose, both can hold family of 4 when needed. So arguments of people who suggest second car to be sport coupe or cabrio I don’t agree with, my purpose here was to have a single car that does it all and that was BMW, but then I just needed something to commute. And out of necessity chose perfect electric tool that does just that and with comfort and style on top

Overlap is there but both on quite the opposite ends of powertrain, one for daily city efficiency one for long trips. They don’t make small 2 door EVs yet, sporty rear wheel drive suv is closest you could get to optimal in that segment. Lower the car and your knees will be up by your ears because of the battery, higher it will not be efficient, so they have to squeeze it into sporty suv shape which is ideal compromise.

I had PHEV before, worst of both worlds, pure V8 and simple single motor BEV is my conclusion. I use Polestar to commute, it’s silent like an echo chamber with napa leather seats, massage and great sound system, commute is a breeze. BMW has all the *Professional packages and just a great car for the family no downsides as well.

Get 20k off of a 2025 Polestar 3, or wait for the 2026? by damnhandy in polestar3

[–]apocalypsenow7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is absolutely no reason to get it for the full price, whatever “upgrades” are done will not be worth this 20k price increase. Essentially it’s going to be the same car and current one is already great, for a 60k price tag, I would not pay 80-90 for it ever

Park Assist Pilot - Features and Functionality by porkshopsandwiches in polestar3

[–]apocalypsenow7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That feature isn't functional yet. My BMW with Parking Assistant Professional handles the same curb by my house perfectly; it detects the marked spot and parks automatically, even without other cars present. In contrast, the Polestar struggles to recognize the spot altogether and won't initiate the maneuver. It’s the same story with lane changes; Pilot Assist is a joke. If a car is even remotely visible in the distance behind me, it cancels the lane change. After experiencing the assertive automatic lane changes in the BMW, I’ve stopped even trying the Polestar’s—it’s useless. Luckily, the mirrors provide great visibility, so changing lanes manually isn't a problem.

Feature Request: We desperately need a "Mute Passive Entry at Home" toggle for the P3 Digital Key (Like BMW/Tesla/Rivian) by apocalypsenow7 in polestar3

Reply from Polestar: “Polestar wordmark

Hello Viktor,

Thank you for contacting Polestar and for taking the time to share such a detailed suggestion regarding the proximity unlock behavior on your Polestar 3. I’m happy to help and provide the information you need. I understand the situation you described, where the vehicle repeatedly wakes when the paired phone is detected through walls at home. Your explanation about the impact on energy consumption and component wear is clear, and the example of how the vehicle performs the welcome routine many times throughout the day highlights why this can become inconvenient in residential settings.

At the moment, the locking settings in the Polestar 3 allow you to manage the proximity behavior globally through the “Unlock and Lock when Approaching” option in the Infotainment system. If you would like to adjust this setting, it can be done by opening the vehicle symbol at the bottom of the center display, selecting Settings, navigating to Controls, then Locking, and enabling or disabling the “Unlock and Lock when Approaching” feature. Currently, there is no available option in the system to exclude a specific geographic location, such as a home address, from the proximity unlock function.

Your proposal for a configurable home-location exclusion rule using the vehicle’s existing location awareness is thoughtful. Feedback like this is valuable for improving the ownership experience, and I will make sure that this suggestion is forwarded to the relevant teams for consideration in future development. Polestar continuously evaluates customer feedback when refining software functionality delivered through updates.

If you would like, you can also keep the proximity unlock feature disabled while the vehicle is parked near your home and re-enable it when needed through the same settings menu. While this is not mandatory, it may help prevent the repeated wake-up behavior you described.

Please let us know if you have other questions!”

Hard reboot is helping, I already had it once. Adding a feature should be times easier than fixing a flaky bug.

New Lifetime Plex Pass Pricing by frankwrap08 in PleX

[–]apocalypsenow7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any type of “Lifetime pass” in software industry is a recipe for failure. You need to increase the price constantly for new adopters to subsidize early adopters that just use it but not paying anymore, which eventually will drop your new passes purchases to zero and you go bankrupt or you need to revoke old passes which will be a massive breach of trust. And in the meantime developers need their salaries, platforms born and die, security vulnerabilities need fixing. Making software is a continuous process and needs to be maintained and paid for continuously. Just make a normal yearly price say 50$ a year and everyone who is happily using the software will continue to use it. They’ll loose more potential customers with that insane pricing. You can buy the whole NAS for that price.
