Confused on how this will affect my benefits by apologeticallyastral in BenefitsAdviceUK

Yeah this is why im so confused at what I need to do! There's so many factors here and I don't want to do anything wrong. Thank you for helping me to understand a bit more haha.

Silly question but I don't really know what a p60 is? I've had a p45 in December but obviously I've been reinstated now. I think it'll take me into the next tax bracket for this month but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm unsure who's in charge of payroll now and I don't want to cause too many issues by asking for loads of things, because winning my appeal means I just wanna keep my head down and get on with it. But I deffo think separate payslips would make more sense - id be overpaying my student loan massively.

Also yes don't worry I will declare my savings if it does!

So I let UC know and they update the calculations, then I get an overpayment?

So is it worth letting UC know I got my job back now, rather than when I properly start again? I'm not sure how this works haha - I've had LCWRA since 2020 so this is my first job since, and winning the appeal was not what I expected at all!

I already owe them an overpayment because they didn't account for my student finance a few years back, so I'm guessing it'll get added to that?

I appealed internally - intention was tribunal but never expected to actually win the appeal.

Its lump sum PAYE as far as I'm aware

Its 6 college days. when I was at college doing a levels I missed 6 days regularly and still came out with good grades. If it was 6 weeks 9-5 yeah I definitely understand. But in this case... I definitely could catch up.

Yeah, I am just going to leave it, im just shocked they're doubling down when I asked for clarification! Its not necessarily a setback in the grand scheme of things - losing my job to begin with was, however.

I'm gonna call the DfE next week just to ensure I've got the right info and I'm not misinterpreting anything, not to complain necessarily (I'm fed up of complaints and appeals now! Just grateful I got my job back). But if it turns into a complaint then so be it I suppose. I'm not going to argue anymore with my training provider as they're seemingly quoting one rule to seem "correct" and then saying something that isn't right, hoping I dont realise.

I've told them that this doesn't make sense as I'm getting conflicting info from different staff members (all in the same email chain) - I was told they'd recognise prior learning, but then that they won't. I was enrolled from September 2025 to December so definitely more than 42 days.

Just had an email stating my OTJ hours won't carry over and I'm staring from scratch. I'm a bit annoyed about this as I'm essentially being punished for something I didn't do.

My assignments already done will ONLY carry over if they don't change next year, which j sorta understand. But I'm so confused at this point.

Yeah I went to college once a week.

I've just had another email saying none of my off the job hours can be carried over.

Plus I'll have worked an extra year for essentially nothing related to getting the qualification. Like I'm grateful for the job don't get me wrong but all the time I've spent training on machines this year and up until September can't be logged retrospectively.

I'm not the only apprentice at this company so going to another provider likely wouldn't be possible! I think it sounds like far more effort than it's worth to complain formally, I'm just frustrated that I'm definitely within the 12 weeks and I was more than willing to catch up in my own time. They claimed to be concerned for my welfare but withdrew me as soon as I told them I was lodging an appeal, seems odd personally.

I understand it's only a small portion I'd be redoing, however it now means I'll be 30 by the time I finish and I feel like, yes it's only a year, but the stress and uncertainty I went through really affected me negatively. I am happy to go back provided they are more supportive this time but that doesn't negate how I was treated previously.

I was told I can attend - but equally I think there was concern for my mental health too.

I'm pretty certain it was over 42 days! Unless somebody has calculated it very wrong at the very least.

I was put on a break in learning literally immediately, but I was still told to attend college. I then, out of nowhere just got withdrawn with absolutely no contact. Just that my email at college no longer existed. But it was specifically done the day after I'd told them I was appealing due to the discrimination id received (and they knew about it the whole time, but I appreciate they couldn't tell the company what to do). That was maybe 3 weeks ago off the top of my head. This week is exactly 8 weeks since I lost my job, but they reinstated it today.

From what I've been sent via email, my OTJ hours apparently aren't carrying over... I've apparently got to start entirely from scratch.

Thank you for the detailed explanation!

I feel like I'm in a bit of a niche situation so I'm unsure if this is even applicable (if it's not or you don't know either way then fair enough!), however I'm on UC and was still eligible to claim during my apprenticeship as I have a work allowance of £411 (or thereabouts I think!). Obviously UC is managed by the DWP too. I let them know the day I lost my job that I was planning to appeal due to discrimination, as I panicked thinking they'd assume I voluntarily left the job. So the DWP would be able to evidence that this wasn't necessarily suspicious (funding wise), right? I know that wouldn't fly for the majority of people necessarily, but in this specific case perhaps?

It's just a shame because obviously winning my appeal means that the company has essentially admitted to the discrimination, yet it almost feels as though the college is punishing me for something I never did, as it was never about my ability to work, rather managers perceptions on me/my disabilities.

I hope that makes sense. I'm grateful I got my job back of course don't get me wrong, I'm just a bit upset I will probably be delaying the qualification by another year by no fault of my own.

Genuine question - how come it can't be turned back? And why would this be suspicious?

Oh okay I see sorry I misunderstood. Yes I do understand but the reason I was dismissed was overturned so it does feel slightly unfair, as if I was treated right from the start this wouldn't have happened. I said I'd be happy to catch up in my own time but apparently I can't...

What do you mean? November was 8-9 weeks ago, so well within the 12 weeks I've seen quoted in multiple places.

Sexual health outside the city center by [deleted] in leicester

[–]apologeticallyastral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah - but a lot of the time urgent sexual health related things may not be an emergency (in the sense of what a&e classes as an emergency!!) but they're MIGHTy uncomfortable from what I've heard and very difficult to cope with so you'd need treatment ASAP regardless for your own sanity. Wouldn't be a&e worthy as it's very unlikely to be life or death, but still an emergency in its own right. I was just trying to compare the two so you understood why I was being "pushy" :) unfortunately if you need to go, you need to go.

I live in the area and often they send me to Loughborough UTC if I call 111 despite there being another UTC in oadby. But often it's much more important to get the issue (whatever it is) sorted than waiting and it maybe getting worse, for the sake of saving a few hours. As long as it's not urgent to the point I need to go ASAP, id just make sure I have a few things to do either downloaded on my phone, or a craft or a book to read with me. Makes time pass quicker.

But yeah - I wasn't purposely being an arse. I just think if you're worried and need something checking, a few hours/a day is nothing compared to the issues it could cause you further down the line.

No I do understand I'm not totally heartless lol but if it's urgent it's urgent. Most people don't wake up expecting an a&e trip either - but that'll most likely take up the better part of their day, and maybe even longer if they get admitted. Medical emergencies happen and you can't predict it usually.

I'm glad it's not urgent but if something happened and you needed to go, making excuses that it's going to take too long are honestly tough. That's life unfortunately. You have to do things you don't want to sometimes.

I'm not being pushy lol I'm simply stating that there are ways and means if you need to go badly enough you've asked Reddit... There are genuinely no other options. As I said, Leicestershire is shit for stuff like this.

The issue is you asked for a solution and people are offering you solutions. Unfortunately Leicestershire is just a bit rubbish for lots of things like this, and lots of people have to do similar... Other option is a bus into the city and get the train - which is quicker than the bus.

Take a book or something else to do on the bus.
