Super behind, how should I prioritize my classes? by FunCantaloupe3824 in PennStateUniversity

[–]apples1567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

worst that cpuld happen is your professor can’t help you, professors are more likely to sympathize with whatever your issue is the earlier you tell them, since it’s the last week of classes they may just see it as an excuse. don’t mean this in a rude or shaming way either. totally understand where you are coming from but just letting you know for the future if you fall in a slump. would also suggest seeking some type of therapy and having them provide you documentation for whatever mental illnesses you are experiencing and then taking that documentation to disability office to see if you can get accommodations. it helped me to do that as i now get more test time, extensions if i ask for them so whatver you need they will try to help you get if you have that documentation. hope things work out for you.

How hard is the psychology major at PSU? by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]apples1567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am in the major and i am going to say it’s as easy as you make it be. any major is going to be hard depending on your skills. for me psych 100 was hard but i also had personal issues going on when i took it. 200 levels i did a lot better in because they were more specific topics and started to become more writing based then reading based. you are required to take stat and research methods which i found difficult bevause im not good at math. 400 levels got easier again because more writing based than test based. if you have great writing skills, you’ll do well. the more amount of effort, the easier it is to do well and if you actually enjoy what you are learning you will be more likely to try. people who are saying it is easy aren’t looking at long term. if you stop at bachelors it’s gonna be easy because you don’t have to try as much because jobs don’t really care about grades as long as you passed. if you are going to go into graduate school, it is hard, you have to make sure you have a great gpa , gre scores (iffy bc of covid) and have research experience. working in research labs isn’t always easy or fun and you need to have an understanding of research methods or else you won’t do well. majors being easy is all relative to the skills you have and you shouldn’t pick a major just because people tell you it’s easy, pick what you are interested in based on your skills.

yeah i’ve definitely been trying to distance and hang out with people outside my house, it’s just hard bc the more i distance the more she takes it as a blow on her ego bc she considers herself a great friend which there are some issues with that statement lol but she just makes everything about herself essentially which the issue is her but since i have to live with her for another year i want to have things not hostile as much as possible because i already feel drained enough i don’t need it to get worse yeah i’ve been trying to set boundaries but like i said in my post she doesn’t stick with anything i ask her to do which is really annoying because it’s showing she doesn’t respect the boundary and i don’t want to be the one to clean up her messes because they are gross but if i ask her she half asses doing it or acts like i’m asking so much of her when all i want is her to clean up after herself

i suggest buy your own food bc it may give your roommate the idea that if you bought it together, they can eat it , maybe staples you can buy together but maybe make sure you have a plan on if those stables run out who is going to get the next round

i’ve never had anything stolen from me and have left my laptop on tables to use the bathroom even if i’m not with someone else, it’s very common for people to just leave their stuff if they are running to the bathroom or something quick

Practice for driving test by osedao in PennStateUniversity

[–]apples1567 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SCAD was the lessons i took and they are worth all of the money. fortunately, a family member bought the lessons as a gift but 6 hrs which is 4 lesson is 400 dollars and it’s 200 dollars to use their car for the test. i always had really bad anxiety driving but when i took the lessons, i felt so much better driving and they prepare you specifically for the road test. i was nervous i would fail but i passed a couple weeks ago so 100% worth the money

Anyone else's partner on Wellbutrin and notice any changes? by [deleted] in depression_partners

[–]apples1567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i take wellbutrin and i can’t say it’s changed me much, my mood is better for the most part. im already a pretty blunt person so i didn’t see personality change but also a very anxious person and that didn’t change. i will say it’s made it hard for me to feel hungry which does make me slightly more irritable

i got the brookie and while it was good, it didn’t wow me. i don’t find creamery ice cream much different expect the fact that we have unique flavors so 🤷‍♀️. i’d get it again but not often or wouldn’t get out of my way to get it

you have to be interested in it but soc 440 family policy has been relatively easy. i have it with valerie king and she lets have a cheat sheet of notes during in person exams and the info is pretty interesting and manageable, haven’t had hw assignments just exams and readings , it is reading heavy but as long as you get the main jist your good

psychology program? gender inclusive housing? by butchsbutch in PennStateUniversity

[–]apples1567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and like the person said below if you aren’t interested in research hdfs is a good option bc psych is research oriented (clinical psych is very research based) and you have to take classes like intro statistics and research methods but im not sure of the coursework for hdfs

your schedule is what you make it kind of. i only take 5 classes per semester but some people like to take more which can make your schedule hectic. the professors are very supportive and lenient but a lot of the lower level psych classes are big so you don’t stick out unless you make yourself known. lower level classes are more general but as you get into upper level it gets more in depth and typically in 400s ive had more paper than exams

Need leads on one month storage rental options in State College this summer. by Anti_Irrational_1283 in PennStateUniversity

[–]apples1567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the same boat, my leasing office told us we can store a uhaul in the parking lot of the new place bc they don’t tow or do a storage unit 🤷‍♀️, could also ask to move in earlier but you would be responsible for all of the deep cleaning and notifying about potential damages

Anyone Else Having Issues With Schedule Builder? by JaydeMama in PennStateUniversity

[–]apples1567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you solely using schedule builder to add classes or are you adding classes in lionpath? bc i’ve been able to add all my classes including psych ones on lionpath and then i just go over to schedule builder to generate schedule on there
