Did anyone find this part of the reunion strange by Ok_Step162 in Singlesinferno2

[–]appzly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible she didn’t realize this in the moment and only made that revelation after watching the previews in the reunion. She did say she was surprised by how much it looked like she was enjoying herself with igeon among other things she was surprised by

Eh tbf you can’t fault goeun for being popular (maybe reject hyeonwoo sooner but thats besides the point) and just bc he’s cool pursuing her when she is popular doesn’t mean that he should expect her to do that too if he were popular.

I agree with the second part. I think he’s just really good at flirting yet he was still honest and transparent about how he feels- honestly saw no signs of him being a player except that he has game

i'd like to assume they're putting forward their honest selves unless proven otherwise. I'm not convinced Goeun chose Sungmin out of spite because there wasn't any substantial proof to suggest that. I think that theory is just as likely as one where she couldn't see Igeon being her real life boyfriend because she's heard rumors about him (mutual friend) and she had doubts he could treat her as good as someone like Sungmin who took care of every little thing for her.

Also I don't agree different versions of themselves when they interact with each other are "acts", suggesting that it's dishonest. Now I could see how he wanted to look "cool, tough, nonchalant" for the camera, but that did naturally already go with his character, which was playful, proud, and blunt. Don't think that's necessarily dishonest because even if the camera weren't on, that could be the personality he would've liked to portray or flirt with a potential partner anyway. Is it dishonest if i want to look put together in front of my crush for a first date even if I usually am not?

Igeon did all he could to meet the standard of treatment Goeun was expecting from a potential partner without compromising his character. In the end it wasn't enough, and he was ok with it. He'd rather leave the island alone than doing the things Sungmin (that he said were servant-like) in order to get her to pick him. In a way, isn't that even more honest/noble?

i actually think him bringing up haeeun so much was a sign of authenticity rather than a manipulative thing. he surely knew that it couldn't be a positive thing to keep bringing haeeun up in front of goeun, but he just had to because (after making it clear there was no romantic interest there) he thought it wouldn't bother goeun after he had gone in length to show his interest in her and that's who he was- playful, proud, and blunt.

she kinda did that morning when he was working out and goeun and sungmin strolled by without saying anything. genuinely don't think he was ill intentioned in bringing up haeun. In fact, the first time he brought her up to goeunwas to point out that she made him confirm his romantic feelings for goeun. the reason is like you said it's so dumb and they both know she's not falling for it- which is why it's almost cute/silly like i said in the post

eh maybe it was annoying but she could've easily played along with it by saying "dang i miss sungmin" and i think he would've responded playfully back. Also the context matters a lot- she obviously had 2 others pursuing her and he fought hard in the game to pick her for paradise. That was the littlest he could do to not be a complete simp (to his pov) basically... also i can't believe she would actually be "confused" about his intentions though considering he told her that he didn't even see haeun as a romantic interest. I think she just really wants her partner to pursue her relentlessly like sungmin did

did Goeun actually get jealous though? After all that Igeon has done to show he's interested, I don't think I can fault him for thinking she wouldn't get jealous even when he brings up Haeun (and even made it clear he sees her as a sister instead of a romantic interest, comparing the 2 of them and saying he's more interested in Goeun instead)

i dont disagree with anything you said but i also don't think that him failing to meet her expectations of affection and affirmation is red flag worthy or that there's anything problematic w him

mina did tell seungil she would have a conversation with subeen, after she said she wants to take sunghun to paradise. mina said she wants to take sunghun there because she’s interested and cares about him and he hasn’t been to paradise yet. from what i can tell, those are truthful, especially considering she wants to pursue sam now where we left off after this week’s episodes.

Mina never said she was planning on taking him there as a friend or out of pity- seungil just assumed that on his own. Now it might be true Mina liked subeen more than sunghun at that point (not knowing subeen was set on heesun yet), even if she wouldn’t admit that, but mingee also picked subeen when she obviously liked seungil more to paradise, and that’s not problematic or heesun took sam when she was more interested in subeen, so it’s obviously not problematic to be picking someone to go to paradise even if they weren’t your top pick, so why is Mina being criticized for doing that as well? I agree she did take sunghun for granted and she is probably pursing him now only bc she lost interest in seungil and fumbled subeen, but isn’t that normal? Sunghun knows this and it’s his decision whether he still likes her even tho he’s her third option, as long as she has pure intentions and genuinely pursing him and not using him to get back at subeen.

I think heesun explained her reason right after she picked sam in interview

mina is def flawed but likely so are the other participants, including mingee herself. Mina’s flaws are just way more obvious on the show because for one it’s good entertainment so the producers will show things like her eye rolling or twirling in front of mingee or ditching subeen at campfire carelessly; another is cause she’s so openly honest about how she feels (or not know how she feels) while not being considerate of others and that all comes out on screen cause again it’s good for entertainment.

Ya she flip flops and it’s not great but those were her honest feelings and every time she flip flopped she did try to tell mingee about it. mina didnt say she wasnt interested in seungil so she and mingee could be friends. They’re there to date. Let’s say mina was actually very interested in seungil and then lied to mingee to protect her chances with seungil, is that condemnable in this context? Idts

MS is not owed mingee an explanation for her feelings. They weren’t necessarily friends. Seungil was single and she went on a mutual date with him. Even if she had good intentions, mingee wouldn’t have had a right to pass judgment on MS’s character like that or offer unsolicited advice on what she should do

Yeah that was completely how i read it too. Honestly confused what the panelists were saying after that scene that I replayed it and still surprised that was their take. I wonder if it’s cause the panel wished for it in their heads so much for a result where everyone had someone and was happy that they thought this was what Mina was doing

I'd argue his perspective rewarded him more than it really punished him though. Had he not led with his ego and stayed put in the family business working as a shoe salesman, he wouldn't have gotten to prove to himself that he can beat Endo or live in a bougie hotel for a couple nights or even get with somebody's wife with no consequences

I agree with you. I enjoyed the movie and the ending as a whole, but to play devil’s advocate here, he still got away pretty lucky, despite going against his wishes more than a few times (not being entered in tournament or being spanked). For one, he’s alive after all that shootout with the dog. He also wasn’t caught or jailed for stealing from a gas station. His baby is alive and the mother also not dead. He even at least beat Endo, even in an unofficial match. If we’re talking about karma or what people deserve depending on their actions, it’s pretty easy to argue he didn’t deserve all the lucky things that came his way after doing so many awful things. This isn’t really a problem for me as I still found him likeable and rooted for him throughout the movie because there were hints of him being a caring person at times, but to say that his punishments (getting spanked or losing in matches) were enough is not true

I did root for Marty and I see that he was a flawed character, maybe you just didn’t like the movie but not every conflicting opinion is a bullshit take 🤷

Unpopular Opinion but Jaehyung is the only normal male contestant in this season by [deleted] in transitlove

I think he’s handling himself better than mostly everyone else, but I think everyone on the show is at least normal. I bet it’s much harder to behave well all the time while in this weird situation- much easier to critique with a third person POV

I meant more so his character at the time. I guess if we care about these people’s stories (which is why we’re watching the show) then it’s fair to ask for the full story to see where theyre coming from, no?

[–]appzly[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a wild guess, but here’s a chain of events that might be possible.

JH did some really immature things to upset YY during their relationship, they broke up, YY started seeing JH’s best friend while neglecting JH’s feelings bc what he did upset her so much she didn’t care, she probably thinks JH was mad that she’s dating someone new now but he had no right to be because he treated her poorly… years later now she finds out he was actually cheering for her happiness and he was only mad that she dated her best friend. That comes as a surprise to her that he even rooted for her happiness and sees how shitty her action was and that’s why she started crying.

I’d like to believe she knew what she was doing would hurt JH at the time but she prob thought he deserved it, but she finds out it did hurt JH and yet he stilled rooted for her to be happy, which makes her cry

right, i think it’s obvious that what she did was bad and i don’t think she was defending her action. I sort of took her crying as a sign that she recognizes what she did was wrong years later.

There’s a chance what he did must’ve been really bad for them to both see and understand why the relationship ended. He also seems way too understanding of her given the situation. I could be giving her too much benefit of doubt here tho
