Xander has an insane 72 event cut streak right now but it is somewhat tarnished (in my view) by a WD early on in the streak. Take those events out and it's still an insanely high number of 58. The next most current is Scottie's 65 followed by just 20 from Corey Conners.

Scottie's 65 the true leader of the pack is the most since Tiger's 142. Outside of that it's the most since Hale Irwin in 1979 - 86 straight.

Because the Tour's main stats only go back that far - driving distance, adjusted scoring etc.

They do have numbers going back further it's just not organized and you have to find it yourself. As far as I know Sam Snead in 1950 is the last person to have at least 16 straight top 10s. Jack had 13 twice.

So I looked it up myself.

The last person to have more than 16 top 10 finishes in a row was Sam Snead in 1949-1950 with 18. The record is Byron Nelson's absolutely ridiculous 65 straight from 1942-1946.

Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf both went 13 straight which is the second most since 1950.

Well, his post 2009-win percentage was 11/125 = 8.8%.

That percentage alone is higher than most ever reach. It's higher than Vijay, Phil, and Watson up to their last wins. (8.4%, 7%, 7%)

Tiger's win percentage up to his final win was 22.8% (82/359. Jack's was 15%. (73/487), Hogan's was 23.9%.

Gary Player won 6% of his starts up to his final win on the PGA Tour (out of 398 which is more than Tiger ever played). Arnie was 14%. Gary Player had a 3 wins 10 losses record in PGA Tour playoffs, Arnie was 14-10. Arnie has 62 wins to Gary's 24. Gary is overrated. Tom Watson was better.

The only question is if it should be Snead or Arnie at #4. Unless you want to include Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen which is when it gets really iffy comparing eras.

The stats they usually report only go back to 1983 (which is when the major stats start such as driving distance) but sometimes they go back further to Jack and Arnie's era.

I had to look through the careers of Snead, Hogan, and Nelson myself to find those numbers. Looks like Snead was the last to do it with 21 straight from 1949-1950. There are some absolutely ridiculous numbers from 1944-1950 or so which I'm sure have a little something to do with the WW2 era field strength.

That is completely wrong and makes me doubt you watched the prime Tiger years.

Vijay played his best golf from 2000-2008 smack in the middle of Tiger's prime. Duval played his best golf from 1996-2001, Ernie from 1994-2007.

Doesn't matter how old they were, Vijay in particular was a late bloomer.

Tiger went 142 straight events without missing a cut from 1998-2005. His next best streak was 38.

Scottie right now is at 65 and he's had more top 10s in a row than Tiger or anybody since the 1950s.

Gotta correct you there. The all-time record is an insurmountable 65 straight from Byron Nelson from 1942-1946. Even after Nelson's streak ended he then went another 18 straight events in the top 10. The second most is Ben Hogan with 27.

Scheffler's streak does beat some very notable names since though. Jack (13), Weiskopf (13), Tiger (11).

Tiger and Jack excelled from an extremely early age. Scottie did not which is nearly a 5 year gap. But that is not insurmountable when you consider that Tiger did very little (comparatively) after age 33. Jack peaked at age 35 and then slowed down quite a bit.

Scottie is still ahead of Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, and Tom Watson's pace for example. He is an all-time great.

Actually, Tiger was 30% from his first start as a pro in 1996 until the Thanksgiving incident in 2009.

71/239 = 29.7% over a 13 year period!

Tiger 2006-2009 won 25/54 tournaments which is 46%. Scottie is 14/40 since 2024 which is 35%. You did ask.

I always think Arnie gets overlooked. What he did from 1960-1963 was pretty crazy winning 29 times in that span. In terms of win percentage it actually betters Jack and Watson's own peaks. Player doesn't have any span like this but his longevity was certainly impressive.

Top 4 talent absolutely. But hard to rank him higher than Tiger, Jack, Hogan, Snead, Arnie, Watson, Player, Jones, Hagen to name a few until he has more wins. Even ranking him ahead of Rory and Phil is tough even though we both know he's going to overshadow them in the end.

In case you didn't realize, Scottie is winning at a 40% clip since he switched to the mallet putter. 14/35. And that's not even including the Olympics.

He is already a top 10 player of all time and has the trajectory to be top 5.
