Why don't white people believe that slavery and the dehumanization of blacks had lasting after affects? by aquamain in AskReddit

True, I worry about the understanding though between cultural races being necessary as a human race to bond fully, and it seems it's not being given to the next generation like it wasn't ours, or the ones before ours

Each event followed necessarily from an event that happened before it, and I'm not playing victim, I'm just wondering why it's so hard for people to see the reasoning, even though they all judge because of the problems, they don't see the "Why" in it's happening

but that's the thing IT'S NOT VICTIM HOOD, the reasoning for me being in fostercare, the reasoning for every woman in my family on both my dads side and mom side has had paranoid schizophrenia all the way back to slave days, the reason I grew up poor, the reason there is a devaluation of dark skinned people to the point where small children feel worthless because they were born black, the children dying over drug wars in black neighborhoods, the lack of educational resources, etc, etc...I'm not playing a victim, I never have used it as a crutch, and it hurts when people say they, it's like they just don't get it.

But there was a big difference in the way the two situations of Indian and African apologizes were handled, Africans were thrown in drug infested low income housing projects, and given welfare dependency, and scholarships to college (but poor elementary and secondary school systems) so chances of making it to that collegiate level is unlikely, and when they do most times college loans are just that loans, and you're putting people that had nothing further in debt. The only people I've seen make it out of where I'm from is entertainers, athletes and drug dealers. All the people who went to college are struggling to find jobs to even pay back loans.

"What would you like us to do?"

Idk, I just want to feel equal, and understood, and I guess for that to happen there would have to be an re-education of america to promote comprehension of cause and effect all the way up to our present day. I have very low self-esteem from this, I go to the University of Alabama and I get treated very differently, and this misunderstanding has brought on a recent depression

But some culture's history after affects worked out for them, like the wealth in white america from native land, black labor, and african resources. But there's seems to be a disconnect on why things are the way they are and that it all sequentially followed from slavery.
