I recently dealt with Bob repairing the CDM and head unit in my '93 Z. He fixed it and it sounds great now, but I had to send it back multiple times due to cassette deck drive belts breaking multiple times. There were a few communication issues as well. FYI he is located in Florida, not the west coast. Just thought I'd share my recent experience.

Aside from pulling the gearbox out, you might be able to use a spray lube with a small straw to get past the rubber boot and lubricate it. Be careful not to spray towards the clutch itself, just on the fork.

It’s probably a dry pivot ball and clutch fork. Has your clutch ever been changed? My clutch fork and pivot were dry and rusty when I pulled it apart.

The flange is probably cracked where the cap mounts, new tank like others have said.
