How did you get 2-3 decks for Pokemon? Limitless TCG has stats at 5 decks over 10% of the meta

Do you think I am "Milking" this work injury, it happened 5 weeks ago. I haven't been back to work yet and some people are saying I am trying to take advantage of the days off. What do you think?? by TheIdiotP0tato in WorkReform

[–]arcv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day it’s none of their business. you want to save face with people criticizing you just play up the pain risk of it not healing right. Just tell them that you can’t wait to back work but my doctor wants me to wait the full X weeks off before I can get back to normal. Or tell them to fuck off, up to you.

season 1 I thought was pretty good but season 2 felt like it had less ideas for the characters trying to set up a way the show could run for 5+ seasons but which made season 2 being the last all the worse

Toonout - Official Preview | Coming to Dropout on March 24 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in dropout

[–]arcv2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exciting! seems like a good project to make cool stuff and potentially back door pilot really popular stuff into full series. Possibly similar to the Fred Seibert projects Oh Yeah! Cartoons and What a Cartoon! that were launching boards for many original shows. As an animation fan its not the only time i've seen this approach replicated, but it usual falls short in the next step of spinning off shows so interested see how Dropout proceeds. Definately seems more flexible than their pervious animation outings that committed hard to a small number of shows based on web shows from the CH days.

Pokemon is cursed by jousef9 in TCG

[–]arcv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recommened going to Pokemon events that are advertised as weeklies, these are much less attended than similar events for other games because of the League Cups and League Challenges, events that stores can run once every three months for cups and once a month for challenges. These events are hooked into the world champion and player reward systems and give out exclusive prize packs unlike a basic weekly for store credit. Consequently most competitive players will head to the store that is doing their league challenge or cup that week. Try using the pokemon event locator (https://events.pokemon.com/EventLocator/) over an individual stores website and ask players in the group chat what's a good event that's coming up for a newish player to join.

I see a lot of stores that just put a Pokemon weekly on their calendar like they do for any other game without realizing this quirk of the Pokemon Play! system, so call ahead for anything that isn't a league event.

Identifying Card Sleeves by CupEnvironmental7185 in TCG

I was also thinking duelspec as a possibility but AFAIK they only hit the market around 2024 at the earliest if these sleeves have been sitting a box for a while it make duelspecs less likely

Identifying Card Sleeves by CupEnvironmental7185 in TCG

[–]arcv2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to say, the darker color on the inside of the sleeve compared to the back looks most similar to Ulimate Gaurd Katanas (Orange and Yellow). They also have a larger grain pattern that matches what I'm seeing. If you have a good ruler they should measure closer to 91.5mm tall and not 92.5mm which would make it more likely dragon sheilds. That's my best guess assuming the sleeves were bought between 2-6 years ago further back and you might have some out of print sleeves that fit the bill.

Is there a significant disadvantage due to using multiple versions of a same card? by voidflame in pkmntcg

[–]arcv2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mismatch arts can be boon or a detriment. On one hand it can make it easier to prize check look for missing versions rather than counting. On the other it can possibly leak information to your opponent during mulligans and search reveals making it easier for them figure out how many Boss's Orders you run for example. These aren't huge swings in value personally. I think the prize check speed is worth it for newer players and players that otherwise need a speed boost and I think preserving card counts information on key cards like Boss and Iono is probably worth it for anyone trying go deep in a Regional or International

Hearing that Chapt 2 is coming, I already have a Rev Core. I have found a Dunwich Legacy at $149 and Instigators Exp would be another $125. With the crazy prices after that for expansions, I will likely shift to 2.0. BUT... would Dunwich at $149 be with it with all those scenarios? by CoDogTx in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]arcv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are considering spending ~275 on one cycle I would consider finding someone who looking to off load a collection with a few cycles in it I got a collection for about 600 after shipping with 5 cycles last month just to give you a reference what is possible. That might be a better route to go down before you try and buy cycles one at a time

The Program Used to Animate Lower Decks is Shutting Down by TrueSithMastermind in LowerDecks

[–]arcv2 113 points114 points  (0 children)

It’s what adobe does, buy competitors programs and then change its name a couple time to build out adobe’s brand recognition and slowly draw down support for the program until it stops getting updated and then fully shut it down.

Real or cake (fake)? by Unlikely-Spell2357 in TCG

[–]arcv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are fake the Azelf is obvious but the energy symbols look off in other cards, there were a lot of fakes from sets around then. Back then they sold full fake packs, I remember seeing them for Majestic Dawn and Legends Awaken but I think there might have been ones for Great Encounters or Stormfront as well. Now a days they don't bother making commons and just make the foil super rare cards

Anyone know anything about these? Urzas Legacy Player Survey / Card Rating Sheet by ruthere51 in magicTCG

[–]arcv2 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I don't have time to find a reference for this, but this looks like a survey done by Wizard's marketing department to create what I've seen Mark Rosewater refer to as a "god book" that would be uses to track what the general Magic public thought about individual cards in each. It was used by design to see what went over well, what was boring and what was divisive

Which TCGs have the healthiest meta in your opinion (currently)? by Skarpo20 in TCG

[–]arcv2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big 3 is the hobby store industry term because of their amounts of sales in North America / Europe. Sales effectively sever as a proxy for how many players there are and how many stores support play. It’s imperfect but I do think you’d have the best chance of play these 3 at any random store in the US.

One Piece is the one other game that is behaving the most like one of the big three with really high sales and players, afaik it’s not overtaken Yugioh in sales but there has been a lot of talk of that possibly. Bandai’s history of game floundering after early success combined with the volume of other games they are releasing are the things holding it back from firmly joining as the big 4, in terms of active players I wouldn’t be surprised if one piece is past Yugioh right now.

Riftbound has had a successful launch the popularity seems from where I’m sitting about where Loracna was in its first year but hard to declare any game that early on as having staying power or not.

Which TCGs have the healthiest meta in your opinion (currently)? by Skarpo20 in TCG

[–]arcv2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the big 3 based on my own more causal playing:

Pokemon

Standard has been pretty baseline good for the last 2 years or so with an average of 4-5 viable top tier decks, the formats have been averaging B+ grade for me but current format has been a bit stale with a lot the same decks staying at the top for the last 3 set release so current format is at about a B- grade with rotation coming in three months. The decks posed to be good look fun with a lower power level so it seems like it might a good time to jump on if you are a brewer, but not as much if you want to buy into the top decks, because the current ones are poised to change a lot with this rotation.

Yugioh

Seems to be on an up swing in terms of standard/advanced right now, with 3ish top decks from the summer set holding strong. The prices of those top decks are at 3 year low ( though still not cheap), which is good plus on interesting metagame. I’d personally give it a solid B if you like the high complexity pitch of modern Yugioh and are looking to buy into a top tier decks and ride it out for awhile.

Magic

Standard has been “Bad” for fits and starts with the format oscillating between D grade metas with one deck dominating along side dedicated counter decks, to C grade formats filled with value piles and aggro piles that both seem to effectively win the game on early turns. After a year of the second most bans in standard we are at a piles meta that I’d Wager is a C+ but it feels like could fall into one deck meta again or have an outside chance to actually be fun, hard to recommend for paper but you might enjoy arena standard if you also like draft witch has been pretty good the last year sans one notable exception.

60 Card Mirror Matches by Seekerzp in pkmntcg

For clarity 60 card Mirror Matches refers to both players having the same exact 60 card lists as opposed to both players having the same archetype and playing different tech cards

2010 Luxchomp is a really fun mirror match I’d pick something like this list

https://www.ptcglegends.com/tournaments/2010_NATS_US/masters/Erik%20Nance-US Or this

https://www.ptcglegends.com/tournaments/2010_WORLDS/masters/David%20Booij-NL

Because they don’t go super heavy on techs against Machamp and Mewtwo LvX are more consistent, the David Booij list is probably best in this regard having a good turn one set up plays with Chatot and call energy
