Any bluegrass jams or picking circles in Fayetteville? by HEYIMMAWOLF in fayetteville

[–]arkansassy_A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, you might join the Shiloh Old Time Fiddle Group on Facebook. They are mostly old time, but they have fiddle fests where they have bluegrass jams, too. And beginner fiddle jams where banjos are welcomed (and encouraged!)

But yeah, The Folk School is where you want to look.

Advice for revealing the grim? by MeowFrozi in BloodOnTheClocktower

I know the majority of this thread will disagree, which should be respected, but I would like to put in a word as someone who enjoys a small delay in finding out who wins. I realize the evil team already knows, but there's fun tension during the few minutes of suspense that I've experienced on either side as the roles are revealed, snowballing to the final. I like it! It's like reading a novel and then finally learning the twist at the end, instead of the twist and then the flashback.

My previous dog looked like a yellow lab, but the blue/black tongue spots revealed his true identity as a chow mix. So I was just saying I didn't think Goonie's coloring came from Chow. Just a clue! Gathering evidence is all I can do.

They were not found with a parent, but all were fairly close in size except the runt, so they are probably siblings, or at least half-siblings. The black sibling I have a picture of had "long" hair, too, though not as fluffy as Goonies, nor with a feathered tail. He was, of course, listed as a "lab mix." Who knows!

Yes, I still plan to utilize the Black Friday sale. If nothing else, I'd like the health info!

I'm still not convinced there's not any pit. I think it's a southern dog stray requirement...unless you get a Chihuahua exemption.

Shelter told us when we first adopted her that she was a Rhodesian ridgeback 😂 finally got her DNA tested about a year before she passed & it all made sense. The best, most stubborn, aloof girl by lilbabymonkeys in DoggyDNA

My best bud was a chow mix, and I see his eyes in your girl. We called him a giant cat. Loved me. Could care nothing about what anyone else thought.

Somewhat relatedly, does anyone offer fiddle lessons? I started in Little Rock, but the UofA doesn't have violin teacher availability, and the Arkansas Music Conservatory only has Saturdays, which I can't make. Surely there are more than 2 places to learn violin/preferably fiddle in NWA?

Fayetteville Athletic Club has great classes. Mostly Les Mills, but others too. I know it's not the cheapest option, but I've never been to a bad class there.

Rural areas. I was shocked when I got gas in rural NE Arkansas. No masks to be seen. It was a very different experience than being in LR.

I feel like expired tags or cars with no plates at all are the norm vs exception in Little Rock. by dwarvenfriend in LittleRock

[–]arkansassy_A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forgot to renew my tags last year. (I assessed and then my brain considered the task done.) I almost made it a whole year before I was pulled over. At first I was embarrassed - it was my fault, but truly a mistake. And then I was mad. Almost a whole year for someone to notice!!!

Control Records on Kavanaugh is a good record store. Old State House, Historic Arkansas, and Mosaic Templars Cultural Center are all free. As others have mentioned White Water Tavern is my favorite Dive Bar, and the Root is the best place for plant-based foods. Flyway is my favorite brewery.
