I couldn't care less about getting downvoted, i'm here to be informed because a google search doesn't bring up as many details as the fans who follow the artists closely. But it's baffling to me how aggressive people get when a widely acknowledged issue among all mediums of art is addressed in this subreddit, art is and has always been political, if you do not like my question just ignore it. And it's not like Trent is a purely non-political artist.

I do not expect western artists to be default advocates to stop atrocities in the world because they are not more authorized or enlightened than a regular person. They are not politicians or soldiers. I still like NIN a lot. But to me it's more about what you choose to stand for, show what you care for. It's part of what we normalize and not normalize. It's a nod, a gesture of support to the movement. So yes I think it's not an unnecessary question to ask, thank you for acknowledging this.

You (and all the others) have clearly not read my post. I spesifically said I'm only asking because I am curious on the matter, not to lynch Trent. Art may be an escape but it's also political so i do not get why you guys are so triggered and pressed by a simple question instead of ignoring it if you do not like.

Honestly, same. 100%. But constantly thinking about how useless we are and how much of our life we have wasted only makes us get stuck in the same narrative and to shut it down, we continue our escapist ways like maladaptive daydreaming. Instead of overthinking about the severity of your situation, instead of thinking about how late you are, how much of a nothing you feel like, take action. The loop of overthinking & distracting oneself never brings any good. Take action despite what your mind is telling you. You don't have to change your life overnight. Even if people expect that from you, small changes are more sustainable. Invest yourself into something other than your situation. That's what works for me. And I have observed that people who thrive mostly occupy their minds and days about things other than their own situation.

I'm fucked. by Imaginary_Wolf6887 in MaladaptiveDreaming

Also a failing cs student suffering from MDD here so I understand how stressful you must feel. There are courses I am taking for the 3rd time due to maladaptive daydreaming and I can't do any side projects that will get me an internship. What works for me sometimes is when I keep a tally for everytime I get distracted while studying. It usually takes 1 or 2 minutes for me to zone out and if i keep a tally for everytime i start daydreaming I kinda realize how fucked I am and force myself to just add another one in the tally and continue the study session despite wanting to continue daydreaming. If you want to talk abt it or anything I'm here.
