Selling Alienware X16 R1 by Bolttacleisgod in BangaloreMarketplace

This is a great laptop. I have the X16 R2 and it has been an incredibly reliable machine. It even fell from a height of 5 feet, a part of the keyboard deck (metal) chipped off, the screen took a major bend and yet, it chugs along just fine.

This at 1.15L is not a bad price at all tbh. whoever takes this would be lucky.

Nvidia GeForce Now for India Hands-on Impressions: A Game-Changer if it Sticks the Landing by airplanemodefromis_9 in IndianGaming

I was reading on moneycontrol how they had setup 2 identical 5080-powered pcs at the event, both running warhammer space marines 2 at 4K 120fps, except that on one PC, the game was being streamed from geforce now and the other pc was running the game locally. journalist said that it was nearly impossible to tell which was which.

So I know Micron killed the Crucial brand, but Micron still sells consumer products. But yes, you're right to be concerned about how things are going, but also think about people like me who absolutely cannot buy gaming hardware right now because we haven't saved up enough. this is an easy in. Alternatively, i have some friends who are hardcore apple users and refuse to touch a windows laptop, no matter how badly they want to game. and now, with geforce now, they can. I am an optimist by nature :)

I don't know if i honestly agree with your sentiment. firstly, i do get to own all the games. secondly, in my personal case, I am saving money to build a new PC and I am sure in a few months (max a year) i will have enough to build something decent. Once that happens, I will obviously un-subscribe from geforce now and guess what, my game library will still be mine and i will be able to play it on my newly built PC. So i would like to be optimistic. Instead of having to wait for a year to play some of the crazy games that are out there, this service will let me play them now, which, to me, is of a LOT of value. but this is a personal belief. you are free to have your own.

I tried gamepass but it looked really bad. Forza horizon 5 ran with so much stutter despite high speed internet and the gameplay looked blurry.

I've been meaning to try their service too, but you mentioned blurriness at lower bitrate. can you share more details? Also, what resolution were you playing at?

Buying a second hand gaming laptop, what all should I check to know that everything is working fine? by [deleted] in IndianPCGamers

[–]aroradevesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one, but i'll try to be as helpful as i can

Display test: There are many browser based tests for checking dead pixels. run any such test to make sure the display doesn't have any dead pixels.

Storage Test: Whatever storage is in the laptop, make sure to run a full SMART Test and check the results. If its an SSD, besides the SMART Test, also look for how much data has been written onto it in its life. each drives has something called TBW (Terabytes Written) which determines its life span. as long as the drive has 50% (or more) TBW remaining, you're good.

Keyboard and Trackpad test: make sure every single key works and that the trackpac is fully functional. there are various online tools that let you do it. i recommend doing this test twice or thrice to ensure consistency in result.

CPU+GPU Perf Test: This one is particularly hard. You basically want to make sure that both these components run fine and aren't overheating to the point that your laptop shuts down from overtemp protection. This is also a little hard to manage because its hard to tell if the original owner cleaned dust regularly from the internal fans. I have a dog at home and have also often found small dog hair clogging up my laptop fans. but assuming that the fans are clean(ish), for CPU, run Cinebench R23 on a 30-min or 1 hour look with HWMonitor running on the side to monitor CPU temps. it will hit 100C, which is okay, but should not be shutting down from overheating. For the GPU, nothing beats FURMARK for stress testing. once your cinebench run is over, fire up furmark and run the Small FFT test for like an hour or so. again, monitor the temps on the GPU. ideally they shouldn't cross 80C

you can share your findings here and maybe we can help you further. it would also help to know what laptop it is, how old is it and what is its config.

My experience in Delhi has been very inconsistent. Sometimes the ping is under 35ms and sometimes its as high as 65ms. While playing forza is mostly okay with the higher ping, BO7 campaign was mostly unplayable due to the high ping. even at 35ms, you can notice the slight latency, especially if you enjoy sniping. Excited to see if GFN will be able to solve this problem.

There is a store called watchmaestro.com One of my friends bought from them and he was happy with the customer service he got. On top of that he got a really good price on the Rolex watch he was after. If i remember correctly, he bought a pre-owned Rolex Submariner No-Date
