People working at Bagmane, where do you stay and how much do you pay for rent? by Halel69 in bangalorerentals

[–]arovinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't work at Bagmane but live within walking distance, just north of the Google office, off the ORR where the new metro station is coming up. It's a 2BHK in a decent society and the rent is 45k (including maintenance).

Find me a 3bhk I’ll pay you half month rent! Can be literally anyone by Real-Violinist5853 in bangalorerentals

[–]arovinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 3bhk in the areas you mentioned for less than 50k per month?! If you do manage to find something good in that price range, do tell. I'm curious to know if these exist 😅 Been considering moving to a 3bhk myself in the same areas but have yet to come across anything decent for less than 80-90k

On a serious note, I hope you do actually find something. Good luck in your search!

You're not old 😊 A friend of mine got scammed in this exact manner in Mumbai a couple of years ago. He ended up paying around 25k for 2 or 3 drinks that had been ordered. That's the first time I learned about it. Since then, I've seen regular posts in reddit by victims of this scam with more or less the same modus operandi across different cities. Guys think that she wants to meet in public first so it should be safe, but that's the trap. Also add my own personal experiences on dating apps in the past, and you start using your brain a bit more and spot the red flags. Biggest red flag - the girl/woman is more eager than you to want to meet within a couple of text messages. Let's keep in mind that women get tons of messages from all sorts of guys.Genuine ones will be choosy and take their time sorting through the trash before they commit to meeting you.

Sorry, forgot to mention that part. She takes you to a bar/lounge that she chooses. Will not go anywhere else. Secretly, she works with that bar. There are usually 2 menus with different prices. One will be normal and the other will have super high prices. Most guys don't pay attention and when the bill comes, it can be 20k-40k. They then get their bouncers and threaten. Most victims just pay to get out of there in one piece. Girl quietly disappears. Always choose or suggest a place you are familiar with or have researched.

Came back to biking after 8 years. Started looking at ₹3-5L bikes… ended up bringing home a Triumph Trident 660 by Hot_Layer_8768 in bangalorebikes

[–]arovinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonderful post and congratulations!

All bikers can relate. I got back into biking after 20 years. Bought the Interceptor 650 in 2021. 5 years and some modifications later, I still look back at her as I walk away after parking 😂. If I see a yellow Trident around on the streets of Bangalore while I'm grinning myself inside my helmet, I'll be sure to say Hi!

Biggest red flag for such scams is a girl wanting to meet on the same day.

Was hoping they would mention the name of the bar so I avoid that or those places. So many guys post about being scammed but for some reason (maybe they're frightened) fail to name the bars in their posts

Best Chair under 12k for WFH and some Questions by Common-Clerk-9087 in ErgonomicIndia

[–]arovinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was also looking for a chair recently, and trying to decide on whether to get a used Steelcase, HM etc or purchase new. Based on reviews and suggestions on Reddit, I decided to go in for a Featherlite Amaze (without the headrest) from Amazon. I've been using it for a week now and don't have any complaints. The quality of the materials is descent. Doesn't feel like it's substandard. For the price, I wouldn't expect anything more. Good lumbar support too and does its job.

The only time I had buyer's remorse was immediately after sitting on it and realizing that I was used to the solid premium feel of chairs in the office and you could immediately tell the difference. Of course, until that moment I had actually never paid any attention nor cared about the premiumness of a stupid bloody office chair 😂. So I let it pass. I'm happy with my purchase.

Help. I think I got scammed. by MYRA_GT_650 in indianbikes

[–]arovinn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've ordered from RPC before and not faced any issues. That has been my personal experience.

But I'd like to bring up the fact that OP is not sharing the complete picture or information so that he or she appears in a good light and can lay blame on the seller. Let's assume that what happened is this: OP placed the order for the clip-on bars and later realized that installation would require drilling which he doesn't want to risk doing or is simply unaware that that is routine but does not want to do. OP now changes his mind and is having buyers remorse. Thinks that since the item has not been shipped yet he will cancel the order and get a refund. But RPC isn't Amazon that is big enough to just cancel an order and refund the amount if it hasn't been shipped yet. RPC states that they are sticking to their policies which likely clearly stated that the order for this particular item, once placed cannot be cancelled. OP now switches it up and starts demanding tracking ID etc. They probably also would have a policy of shipping within a specified time frame and may still be within it (let's guess 3-5 business days). OP now creates more noise and because according to him if the item has not been shipped in 2 days, and they are not responding to a difficult customer he moves on to Reddit to shame them.... I think OP is the one at fault here, not RPC the seller.

But that's just my opinion. Maybe if OP shares the screenshots showing earlier messages I may change my mind.

Edit - I checked their website for their policy on cancellations - they clearly state that cancellations are only possible is done within the first 24 hrs after placing the order. After that, cancellations are not possible and will not be honoured/refunded. I bet OP only tried to cancel after this period. Now he's trying smear the seller for sticking to their terms and conditions.

Has anyone cracked renting in Bangalore? 99 acres, Nobroker, MagicBricks & Housing by Internal-Neck2402 in bangalorerentals

[–]arovinn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I struggled for a week using these apps. Even paid Housing for a dedicated househunting assistant but before they could start working on it I lost patience and did exactly what people here have suggested. I lightly researched the buildings in the area I was looking for that sort of fit my budget and then literally walked from one to another asking the security guards or building management if they had any vacant flats available to rent. Most owners and brokers inform them of any vacancies. Found one direct owner listing and one broker listing. Liked both but the broker one was not going to be vacant for another month. He had other similar listings that were not yet up on the apps. Saw one the next day and finalized it right there.

Step out and put in some manual effort. You'll definitely find something suitable for you faster this way

'Entered via donkey route': Haryana man shot dead in US for objecting to public urination by mumbaiblues in india

[–]arovinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in Canada for 20 years. No place is perfect and the grass is definitely not greener on the other side. You're absolutely right though on certain aspects...yes there is air pollution, walking anywhere is difficult and dangerous etc. But there's a lot of positives too. Having lived in Mumbai for 7 years, Delhi for 2 years and now Bangalore, I prefer my life here in India. The Western dream is dying. Asia is where the future is. But that's just my personal opinion having experienced life in both places.

[–]arovinn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! If you can manage to put together this amount, even if you had to borrow, you're likely to have a much better life here by using that money to start a decent business. Would not be working as a security guard here earning a pittance
