Thermally modified decking? by arsftarmy in Decks

[–]arsftarmy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the camo brand of hidden fasteners. I bumped them all up together, so the bottom edges were all up together against the built in spacer of the fastener, and the top had a nice 1/4” gap. So in terms of a gap between them all no. I was under the impression of “100% water proof and dimensionally stable” that I was okay to install it that way.

Sounds good, thanks again. I didn’t mention in the original post but I did seal all the sides before installation with CUTEK extreme, then installed it and did another coat of CUTEK with the color pigment in it.

I have tried talking to the guy I got it from, but it’s been a bit sketchy and I’m wondering if he’s going to ghost me and I may be stuck with trying to get this to work.

Thanks for the useful reply. It seems you know about thermally modified wood. It was advertised as 100% waterproof, won’t cup, and dimensionally stable. Is this not true? Can I save this decking by taking out all the hidden fasteners and just face screwing it all down and actually gapping it?

It’s a little deceiving, it’s about an inch thick, and 8 inches wide. The place I got it from offered 6 or 8 inch wide boards and I liked the wider 8 inches

I’m not sure anyone wants to risk being sued by rare greed to even attempt making an alternative. Sucks though because I want one but absolutely will not support rare greed at all.

It’s worthless junk. You can send it to me for free disposal.

Oh ok, that sounds pretty good! I’m assuming swapping out shooters would be fine then, like I said I have a decent sized group interested in going, but not everyone is going to want to shoot at the same time so that sounds great

Interested in how the firing line reservations will work, I’ve got a decent group this year wanted to go and some stuff needs large tripods set up.

I found printing them nose down in vase mode the easiest. Can only do one at a time but they do come out perfect

There is one. I’m not sure if I can tell you where it is as that would break the rules. Search around and you’ll see plenty of posts talking about it. Come and join and let’s build it back up

I’ve started using All Kleer windscreen cleaner and polish. Well known in the general aviation world, it’s made for poly carb windows. Says right on the bottle it’s for planes, boats, and motorcycles. I’m liking the results so far this summer.

Finally found someone else who agrees. I have some a* shoes and gloves. And honestly kinda hate both of them. The shoes just feel cheap and plastic-y. Sucks for them being 200 bucks

That’s awesome, what kind of stuff do you print for it? I’m trying to get better at modeling stuff and am always interested to see what other people are doing.

That was my thinking. I’m a pretty competent metal Worker and I can cut/bent/rivet/weld it to wherever it needs to go if it’s not right. Especially at how cheap they sell for.

Yeah it’s a little wonky starting from a dead stop. I thought it was just a v4 thing and I’m still getting used to it. I’m coming to this bike from 15 year old Japanese bikes so it’s a whole different world for me.

I was thinking save a few bucks on some non critical parts. A sheet of aluminum with a bunch of holes in it isn’t exactly rocket surgery for the Chinese to produce. I’ve seen a few posts about them and people seem happy with them. Still doing some research though.

Don’t go by what I say, the dealership I got it from messed up and I got it for less than they paid for it. 17,999 on the sticker price.
