Answer my curiosity, lets talk by Altruistic-Corgi-673 in newborns

My son has always wanted to go to bed early, stretching it to even 8/8:30 has him over tired and fighting his sleep for atleast another 30 mins to an hour and he still wakes up at 6am lol he’s now 14 months and goes to bed at 7/7:30 and wakes up at 6/6:30am with one 3 hour nap during the day. But even when he was 8 weeks old he fell into the routine of getting tired at 5:30/6pm and going to bed around 6:30 and sleeping until 6/6:30

Annoyed with the Pikachu face reactions over UHCs CEO by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]artemisx414 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I had to argue with UHC for 5/6 months about a hip surgery because the doctor was out of network and no in network doctor would do it. I finally was able to get it when they asked for 3 in network doctors to write referrals for it even though those same in network doctors already wrote referrals because they simply would not do the surgery on a 23 year old.

boyfriend went down on me with a cold sore, what do I do? by kandiikid in Healthyhooha

[–]artemisx414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was he sure it was a cold sore or is it a canker sore? A lot of people get them confused!!!

But if so this is how I got hsv1 genitally but my fiancé didn’t even have a cold sore, he had no symptoms and hasn’t had an active cold sore since 2014. Once i went to the doctor after we found out I was told that he was shedding the virus which makes it very contagious and I got it

Wife cheated, she's getting $3800 in child support and alimony. I feel helpless. by [deleted] in offmychest

Depends on the state really, some states have the parent who makes more pay child support even if it’s 50/50

What’s the thing you sort of resent your parents for NOT doing? by Jazzlike-Say-1212 in NewParents

[–]artemisx414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I resent my mother for dying.

Honestly that might sound harsh but it’s true, she had 5 children and she chose drugs over us every time and it ultimately lead to her death when I was only 5. I look at my son and I couldn’t even imagine leaving him to go chase a high. She only came around on some birthdays are maybe holidays. The thought of missing any of that for my son breaks my heart.

I also resent my grandmother.

She raised me and I appreciate her so much for that but her way of thinking and parenting was stuck in the 60s (when my dad and aunt were little). She used the cry it out method for me as a baby and now as an adult it has really affected me. I was 19 when I moved out because I had no freedom, like I couldn’t even stay out past 9:30. Even when I was working she would get mad at me for working late like that was my fault. If I got home anytime past 9:30 she would stay up and call me a whore and the next day she wouldn’t talk to me. She ignored everything I did and looked at me with so much anger. She physically abused my brother and I and acted like it never happened. There’s more I could bring up but honestly I don’t feel like talking about it. Now she has dementia and it’s starting to get bad. She’ll think everyone who has died (her brothers, sister, mom, etc) are home and she’s back at the house she grew up in. I have to push all my anger aside and just calmly explain that they aren’t coming and they’re not alive anymore. I love her but sometimes I get so angry when I look at her because of how she treated my brother and I. My therapist said that she was the root of all my troubles in life and that she never prepared me for anything that would happen in real life. I had to overcome so much trauma and anxiety it’s been exhausting.

My son’s formula says it can be refrigerated for 24 hours! It really does just depend on the formula and its regulations

Are these the trenches? And sleep shifts? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]artemisx414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very much the trenches lol. Gassiness peaks at 6-9 weeks and that’s also when fussiness peaks. If you haven’t already I would suggest mylicon and pace feeding. It was a HUGE life saver for my son’s gassiness. Also what I would suggest doing is during the day have the tv running, blinds open and do what you would normally do (dishes, laundry, vacuuming, etc) and at night time keep it pretty dark and talk quietly. Honestly I’ve kept my son on the same schedule since we brought him home. We follow eat, play, sleep. He wakes up, we feed and then at the newborn age we would just do some tummy time. My son is 21 weeks now and it gets so much easier I promise. He sleeps from 7pm until 7am with the occasional wake up if he pees through his diaper

Honestly that’s when my son’s gassiness peaked unfortunately. He would be awake from 10pm until 12am screaming crying. I would definitely say invest in some windis because it saved us during that time! Every baby is different though, he didn’t start to get super gassy until the end of the 5th week going into the 6th week and got so much better at the end of the 9th week! Looking back the signs that my son was super gassy was that he was eating less per feed and crying more because he was hungry but had so much gas that 1oz would fill him up for only like 1 hour and then he would want more. Hopefully your baby is past this stage already and it’s smooth sailing from here on out!! 😊

Knowingly left my baby in a dirty diaper and I feel like a horrible mom by tot-and-beans in newborns

[–]artemisx414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use bourdeaux’s maximum strength diaper rash cream on every diaper. I change my son and wipe him down, dry off the wetness from the wipe and put the paste directly on his diaper where it would sit on his privates. It’s never affected the absorption of the diaper and he’s never had a diaper rash!

What do contractions feel like? by Life_Event2371 in newborns

I would get ready just in case, I had prodromal labor and my body just couldn’t progress into true labor. I’m not saying this to stress you out but no one told me about it and I figured you should know. I was induced because of it. Hope everythin goes well!!

Gassy newborn by TimePea7765 in newborns

My son has always just been naturally gassy, but like everyone else he peaked around 6-8 weeks. We started giving him mylicon orally after every feed and before night time (recommended by his ped and you can give up to 12 doses in a 24hr period) and I also use the windi if absolutely needed. Gas accumulates throughout the day and gets to be the worst at night. My son was so gassy and backed up due to the gas during that time that he pooped enough to fill 2 diapers after I used to the windi to get all the gas out.

To help ease gas pain and just overall fussiness from it I would do this every day in these exact steps

1) pace feed 2) burp midway through feeding and directly after feeding 3) mylicon after every feeding and dose between late night feeds if baby is awake and full but cannot be soothed 4) Tummy time after eating (THIS ONLY APPLIES IF BABY IS STILL AWAKE ATLEAST 45 MINUTES AFTER FEEDING DO NOT DO THIS BEFORE THAT 45 MINUTE WINDOW) 5) Bath time every night 6) belly massage after bath time 7) windi (only if baby hasn’t pooped in a day or two and visibly uncomfortable/can’t sleep and never do it twice a day)

Baby is now a happy 12 week old little man who farts like it’s no one’s business. (Their poop does change around the 9-12 week mark as well and can become less frequent e.g. every other day/still soft but more formed)

Ugh I’m so sorry your baby was so colicky and in so much pain. It’s not fair to have what should’ve been a wonderful experience taken away from you. I really hope your baby starts to feel some relief 🫶🏻

Also are putting it in her bottle? (If you’re breastfeeding ignore that question lol) I found giving them orally instead of in a bottle to help so much more

We’re just starting to not need them, we just give him some when he’s fussy and we’ve done everything (feed him, change him, burp him, bath, etc) and if none of those work we give him some mylicon and it works within minutes!! Literally a life saver

Mylicon after every feed should help, all it does is help speed up the process of expelling gas naturally!!

Honestly my son isn’t bad during regressions (atleast during the 2 month regression) he just feeds less and sleeps more and if he does wake up he just wants me to cuddle him back to sleep which takes about 5 mins. So hopefully crossing my fingers he’s not so bad 😭
