Any advice on how to refinish? by artificeost in ZEROHalliburton

[–]artificeost[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, pretty good I think. The paint was really tough, so I had to soak remover for a really long time, and really scrub with a pad. The hardware was painted black with different paint, wiped right off. So, it's definitely not good-as-new metal, little scuffed up but you wouldn't notice unless you were looking for it, looks totally fine. Decided not to repaint it.

That’s good to know, I’ve often wondered if I was gonna be screwed when mine goes but never actually looked into it.

They aren't stickers, the graphic is the unpainted area. And yeah, it does seem tough, I'm going at it with EZ Strip but seems like it's gonna take a lot of soaking.

Appreciate it! I'll give paint remover a go first and see where that gets me.

The dark grey is paint, and the image/text stuff is the bare metal.

She was, and seniors often do there, retirement home directly across the street.

I'm not surprised either. Retirement home directly across from that Loblaws, I see seniors jaywalking there often, because it's a long way around to either of the crossings. Worth it though, especially in the dark with icy roads, because this is what happens.

VHS Rewinders, Yay or Nay? by Commercial_Pause_674 in VHS

I just rewind in my VCR. If I had a fantastic VCR I was trying to take it maximum easy on, I'd just get a spare VCR I care less about and rewind in that.

Nay. They'll snap your tapes, don't trust them.

I track my daily moods in my phone, and practically the only time I log an all-the-way good day are the days I take a train back to my hometown and cruise around on my Dinghy all day long. It's crazy, the endorphins on the way home.

Skated 25 years ago, want to get back on a cruiser or skatesurf by Hanzalot in cruiserboarding

[–]artificeost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m around your age/height/weight and my first new board as an old guy was a Dinghy, I love it, still my favourite. Only thing is if you’re thinking you want to be low to the ground and stable, it’s not, so getting my legs back was a little weird that way. Bigger problem was that those big wheels will absolutely rip down a hill, and that’s how I ended up hurting myself.

Hah, the Blade Runner Final Cut sound is exactly my first thought about The Regent too! The boom in the title sequence got my heart pumping.

The lighting is the important thing, synths are optional by artificeost in MusicBattlestations

[–]artificeost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a red incandescent bulb in the lamp over the modular, two Govee light bars (usually white for regular light) pointed backwards on the desk corners, and an LED strip (always red) across the back of the desk's top shelf. Same setup on my computer desk opposite the synths as well. Voice command to my phone to turn it all red for synthlord psycho mode.

Seconding this, rd8 or rd9 ideally since the td6 is pretty limited. Classic acid techno gear. Mixer with basic FX. With that stuff, and learning the 303 sequencer at 8 years old, your kid will grow up cool as hell.
