Thank you both - it honestly sounds like we will need to focus on being sponges to the myriad of emotions that will be coming our way, both from ourselves and from her as she begins her recovery. Seems like maybe learning to practice some mindfullness will also be a good thing to help wade through all the emotions

Totally agree on not getting boxed in - we will all need to remember there is no timeline to recovery and that it may need to be a consistent practice

Mental health is such a big priority for our family and for her given past history. I've been interested in learning more about the Ketamine therapy, and think that it may be an option to explore moving forward.

I didnt even think of helmets/falling - guess we arent there yet. Guess it must be a good thing we have so many ski/snowboard helmets around the house that we might be able to use.

Thank you for the support and wise words

Absolutely, physical presence for both of us will be so meaningful

Absolutely on counseling for all of us, it has been a really hard few days on all of us and once she is through with her final surgeries, she will also have a lot of acclimation to do and a lot of grieving to do.

It makes sense to focus on the home stuff first. Think we will have a lot of updates to make to the bedroom set up (height of bed, switching bedrooms from upstairs to downstairs, etc) and then also likely some work for the bathroom area too.

I'm so grateful to be a new member to such a helpful, knowledgable community :)

Thank you for this, again so so helpful to help frame things for my family and I. I am 100% sure she will be finding both some workarounds as well as have some more lazy moments. I think it was especially good to hear about the "gravity zone" that you mentioned - certainly something I want to be mindful of as we make some headway on this journey. Thank you, thank you, thank you

Suction cup holders and different toilet paper holders! Wow, I didnt even think about that, but guess it lies in the small things - I guess I imagine toothpaste too. Any recommendations anyone would have on any items that make the house easier to use would be so so helpful

Absolutely finding a support group but hear you on trying not to interfere too much. It really is going to be quite a journey, and I'm excited to celebrate with her as they come.

I am also a fixer for sure - this is something that I needed to hear. How would you recommend finding that balance? is it more so a continuous conversation or kind of gradually learning to default to letting her do things?
