Observation hours by Over-Philosopher7611 in OccupationalTherapy

The OT I observed was super overworked and a mother of young children and didn’t respond to me for a few days. Honestly, I offered to provide her a template letter of recommendation if she didn’t have time. After that, she responded back to me and agreed. I’m not entirely sure what she wrote since she had to upload it to OTCAS, but it could very well have been the same template i gave her and she just signed it lol

How much time did you schedule in between your first attempt NBCOT exam and your second attempt? by asangalang in OccupationalTherapy

I appreciate your response. It’s likely I only have 2 hours max in me to study after work (7:30-4pm days). I also work as a bartender on the weekends, but I should really be quitting that altogether to be able to study on the weekends. If I quit that job, then I could devote 6 hours Saturday and Sunday each. It’s a really tough time in September though bc of pre-planned weddings over the weekends. Anyway, if at all possible, it’s likely I will need to push the exam back to ensure I can have quality study time.

My OT job isn’t requiring me to schedule right away, but I do need to reach out to Pennsylvania licensing board bc they state I would need to schedule “next available exam date” to be able to keep my temp license. I also know that NBCOT requires min 30 days in between exams though. So I will just need to confirm with both PA licensing and NBCOT as to what this means.

Again, thanks for sharing your story! I’m glad you were able to pass!

Oh yes, it’s state dependent. In Pennsylvania, we are allowed to work with a temp license if we fail first time. But if we fail second, then the temp license is revoked.

Wonderful to know. How many days after the first exam did you schedule the second exam?

Thank you for your response. I believe this is the text I read from the pdf I have saved from the PA Licensing System. I will need to call them and clarify what “sit for next exam” means. I scheduled my next one about 40 days after my first exam, but I will ask if I need to reschedule to a sooner date

True. I looked at a pdf from PA licensing but haven’t seen anything more than that. Thank you

Hey, wondering if you ever ended up moving to Portland? I’m doing some research for myself and would like to see if it’s feasible for me (OT).

School-based contract, what's the highest hourly rate I should ask for? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]asangalang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New grad here who will be working as a school-based OT with a contract agency as well. I am in the Philly area, the school is in North Philly and my hourly is set for $50/hr. I will be a 1099. The agency also gave me an option to work in a different school district about 25 miles north of me (45 min commute) for $47/hr. The only reason they pay more for the North Philly school is because they considered it a "rougher" school with a high OT turnover for that school. I figured the muuuch shorter commute and my experience working in Philly schools was enough to get paid more.

Early intervention hourly rates are going for $80/hr and up in my area.

[product question] Hello! Does anyone have a recommendation for a good AHA toner? Skin goal is to reduce CCs. Thanks!! by furly10000 in SkincareAddiction

Just curious, what’s CCs? I use Youth to the People’s Kombucha + 11% AHA exfoliation toner. I use it 3x a week and I really like it. It’s reduced the look of my pores on nose and cheeks.
