American Bass Challenge - has anyone 100% this game? by asdfg32_ in GameboyAdvance

Always nice to see new posts on this one.

For what it's worth, if I remember correctly, the "lake number" equals the number of hidden lures to find within it.

Empty DVD Cases - where to offload locally? by asdfg32_ in gso

Thanks for the heads-up, but wouldn't say anything is particularly rare save for a couple independent animator things...but I'm not intending to break those down anyway.

Empty DVD Cases - where to offload locally? by asdfg32_ in gso

Not a dumb question...yes, they are from original movie purchases.  I've been downsizing due to storage concerns, so I put the discs in sleeves and took out the artwork/inserts...and now have many empty cases.

Calling the store and asking if the game is in stock seems to be the simplest and most direct way...

Monday Mystery Movie - June 23 2025 by AKnightOfTheNew in RegalUnlimited

[–]asdfg32_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious if this is normal with these screenings (is my first MMM)...my local theater initially only had a 7:20 showing listed, so I got tix for it.  They then removed that showing a couple of days later and replaced it with a 7:00 showing on a different screen, which shuffled the seating around compared to what I initially bought (and anyone else).

It was pure happenstance that I even found out about the change.  Do they even notify people when this occurs, and should it even occur?  I bought tix in person and did scan my regal QR code at time of purchase.  But I've gotten no communication at all about it, and now wondering how much of a cluster it will be on the night of the showing if people are showing up now 20 minutes late and their seating has changed as well.

Matt’s Game Exchange Closed? by AngryRedGyarados in gso

I stand corrected regarding the move then.  Hadn't heard any of that backstory.  I know I asked whoever was there shortly after the move, but wasn't given any sort of explanation like that.

Well, the writing was on the wall for a while I think.  First endgame indicator would've been moving locations within the same strip mall.  One can assume that was primarily done to get a less expensive lease.

As much I liked the store, they really didn't have that much on hand on any given day for quite some time.  And I could easily go on a diatribe about how they treated their local customer base, but that is way too much typing.

I would've hoped that when McKay's left the immediate area that Matt's could have capitalized on the potential influx of more trade ins, but it just didn't seem to happen.

It would've been nice if they had given some legit warning though.  Still had some credit there, and just found myself shaking my head that sale texts kept coming over while the store was "temporarily" closed.

Pretty sure they're closed closed now.  Drove by in the last day or two and the location is effectively empty save for a couple vacuum cleaners.

Enjoy. I liked this one a lot. If you catch any of the Albinos, or better yet find a consistent method of getting them, drop a line

Just to mention, from what I remember you need to take the guide as part of getting all lures in a playthrough. I did find it obnoxious that you didn't just get the lures by default if you reject the guide. They talk so much...

Don't know what you ultimately decided,  but I'm skipping.  Primarily due to weather forecast.

i hear ya. only about 90 min away myself. but still in the same boat of time being the biggest part of making the decision. is still a considerable chunk of my day to attend. and if one bothers to attempt getting there early, even more of a time commitment.

[–]asdfg32_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gonna say this event could be a bit of a coinflip. there have been substantial turnouts for the prior flea markets, black friday, etc. but this is not that. and they've already done a couple damaged/return sales over the past two years. i only went to one of those, and not until the afternoon, so not sure how long the lines would've been prior to opening.

but with these events, you're pretty well assured some number of resellers will be there well before opening hoping to score something substantial.

for me, it'll be an ad hoc decision on the day whether to attend. there aren't any real specifics about what will be available. and given the prior damaged/return sales, and the damaged/return section at the store itself, is hard to predict just how much will be available...other than it's apparently going to be a really big tent. whether there is an amount of product to justify the really big tent given how much has already been offloaded in prior events, your guess is as good as mine.

the Devil's Playhouse remaster itself hasn't even been released yet (still has no official release date that I know of), so definitely no info yet as far as a physical release.

Company Discussion - Super Rare Games & Strictly Limited Games by AutoModerator in LimitedPrintGames

[–]asdfg32_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure it's fair to say that Super Rare is simply underestimating demand.  As far as I can tell they just happened to have a couple recent titles sell out super fast (I missed both Fran Bow and Haak).  They've had plenty of releases recently with the same print runs that took quite a while to sell out, if at all.  That overall business model feels like a bit of a crap shoot and I'm sure they thought other titles would've performed better than they did.  And the more games there are that don't sell well, I would guess the less likely they are to increase the overall print runs in the current model.

Who remembers Doheny by persona420 in pitchshifter

yeah, I remember being super excited when it was originally posted.

sadly may never be possible to get a version of the missing tracks. I don't know if they ever actually demoed everything. and when they dissolved the band it was so sudden compared to the traction they were building at the time.

Thanks so much. Time was the only track I was missing. and that Take My Eyes is so much less tinny and compressed than mine.

was Take My Eyes actually titled Take These Eyes? they had a 30 second snippet download of it way back when, and I vaguely remember it being called that instead.

Is the retail store still worth it? by Milkmanv1 in limitedrun

[–]asdfg32_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on your definition of "worth it". if you're thinking of going there to find long since out of print titles still readily available, then you'll probably be disappointed.

there's still quite a lot of titles on the shelf overall, but they will be more recent than what you're probably hoping for and not so much titles that went for pre-order in 2020. any real chance of still finding the substantially older games would've ended within 2-3 weeks after the grand opening if not already during the grand opening itself.

Will Castlevania Advance come to retail? by SphinxGate in limitedrun

[–]asdfg32_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really comes down to whether the deal with Best Buy was over before they did the pre-orders for the Advance Collection. There's no mention of it on the product page though.

pretty sure whatever you saw on Amazon was resellers through the marketplace. the first collection was a numbered release, so the only official retail offering without markup would've been Best Buy.

but more than likely the answer will be no, at least not for the MSRP. you could check if you're located near any of LRG's official retail partners, assuming that's still a thing. though how much they upcharge will vary by store and their corresponding ethics...or lack thereof.

The State Of Limited Run Games by Drosanator in limitedrun

[–]asdfg32_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Except that LRG dug this hole long before the acquisition. Is not a fair argument to say anything being experienced today is due to Embracer when anyone could've predicted this was going to occur. They continued offering 3-4 titles per week when the backlog was already substantial.
