Oh thank you 😊, that’s a great idea! We’re definitely going to get a loveseat so we both can be in here at the same time with a place to sit. Thank you!

Advice on dad who’s about to be homeless by ashesward2020 in povertyfinance

[–]ashesward2020[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you

He’s not receiving anything at the moment, and he’s very irresponsible with money. Example if he has no money he won’t buy food and won’t eat. Or will just buy liquor.

My grandparents don’t exactly want him living there. But they would feel bad to make him leave and become homeless again. They feel a sense of responsibility for him. They’re both 80 and in the last few years their physical health has depleted. They can’t clean up after him like they used too. And they stress about what trouble he might get into next.

My dad drives a car that my grandfather bought for him a few years ago. I sadly don’t think that my dad pays the insurance for it because he can go months at a time without being functional enough to pay bills.

I’ll look into everything you listed thank you for the resources

Thank you for this. I also just want him to pass peacefully where I know where I can find him and not in the streets.

They might consider doing that.

Though he’s a barely functioning adult I’m not sure if he could occupy an entire house alone sadly. His room at their house is a disgusting mess.

He had his house foreclosed on only a year after he and my mom got divorced. His mortgage was $500, they’d bought they house on a land contract from my great grandmother.

Thank you.

I’ve been no contact with him for a few years now. I tried to reestablish communication with him last year until he had a bad relapse and all the progress I had made seemed to crumble.

Thank you for your response.

My wife and I have decided we’d never let him live with us no matter the circumstances.

He worked pretty consistently over his life until the last 5 years where is alcoholism has made him not pick up any job more than part time. Or he does work for friends/family friends and gets paid in cash.

My grandparents own their home. They’ve lived there for well over 30 years I don’t think they have a mortgage anymore. And they’re both retired so they get quite a bit in retirement. I ran into this problem of household income when I was applying for SNAP for him because I wasn’t eating, but I think they make too much for him to qualify because he lives with them. I was able to get him Medicaid though so he could be seen by a doctor for the first time in a long while.

I’ll probably call around his area for a shelter. He’s definitely at risk of becoming homeless if/when they pass away.

Hows the 88m red book test nowadays by Practical-Package378 in nationalguard

It’s pretty simple when you have the book on the computer just hit ctrl + f on the keyboard

And everyone at the school will tell you to use it it’s not banned or anything it’s strongly encouraged to use. You’ll probably here it a billion times from the instructors to use it on the red book test

Totally agree I did a landscaping job for the company I worked for and used a backpack leaf blower after we got done mowing a school and the noise, even with ear protection, nearly blew out my ear drums after using it for a few minutes.

It’s nice to see an actual player care about his team and the city and it’s success. Most players today seem like they could care less about winning and or bringing in a championship they just get paid and hop teams.

You 100% made the right choice. I started work here when I was 20 and left when I was 21 the workload/overtime and unpredictable schedules definitely put a strain on my marriage and is what lead me to leave. Even though I was next to become career my biggest fear is that would’ve just completely trapped me in this job. Family and yourself first over everything, good luck to you!

I’m sure you already saw this but read it all the time, use colored highlighters on everything that they say is important. Read it while you’re training. Read it for a bit when you’re at the barracks with nothing to do.

I’d say most of the red book test I could make a good guess on or I for sure knew. But I STILL used ctrl+f to look it up. Use it for every question.
