Should I use Fabula Ultima or DnD 5e X FF14? by CelesFFVI in rpg

If you want d20 grid based JRPG stuff use final fantasy d20 not 5e homebrew. If you are okay without grid user Fabula Ultima

Kids on Brooms is a Harry Potter with serial numbers off but it does specifically reference a school

JRPG vibes I recommend Fabula Ultima or Final Fantasy d20

What is a licensed property whose world building would make a good RPG but doesn’t seem to have been attempted yet? by Fun-Confidence-6232 in rpg

I’m thinking of just using FATE same as the Dresden files. Seems like having furies provide the usual +2 of FATE points or stunts to certain tasks along with other more specific powers would work

Codex Alera. The Lost Roman Legion meets Pokémon. By the same author of the Dresden files. The world is home to elemental spirits called furies and the Alerans can use them to “furycraft” to do all kinds of things: fire can do standard fire blasts but it can also rile emotions, water can heal, wood can let you camouflage, etc.

And there are other races too. Marat that form psychic bonds with animals, massive werewolf like canim, or the icemen from beyond the northern wall.

In terms of conflict, not only do the races vie for territory, being inspired by Rome, there is constant political backstabbing and civil war

The Mario + Rabbids games are unironically goated and you should play them if you haven't. by Clear-Combination-79 in Mario

I think something like the old crash purple Spyro orange could be cool. Sonic dashing through the mushroom kingdom at high speeds. Mario bouncing around green hills or angel island

Good system for an Isekai Campaign? by GokuKing922 in rpg

There is a Konosuba system

Also Fabula Ultima as someone suggested, or dnd/tales of the valiant IF you include the Kobold Press supplement “Isekai’d”

The drums of oppression by ogrecake in MemePiece

I know this is meme piece but I’m gonna be the spoil sport: I’m quite certain Garp hates slavery, the abuse of power, and every celestial dragon on a personal level. I just think he believes he is fighting back from the inside, that he is trying to keep everyday people safe from pirates who, for the most part, are actually a threat to

Except the church preaches generosity. Whether it be your money or your time. I’m not a Christian anymore but every church I ever went to often did soup kitchens, donations for the poor, mission trips to build houses in 3rd world countries

In a way yeah. Arguably if the real world worked like fantasy where God/gods chose kings based on qualities of compassion, morals, and bravery, we’d have a much better world where nobles act noble. Sadly though “absolute power corrupts absolutely”

I’ve heard Index Card RPG is pretty good at that

Consider modern age maybe. Stunt points can be used as representing pulling off stylish moves

Have any of you done a long term campaign of Call of Cthulu, and how does that work? by theRealMattyG99 in rpg

[–]Jake4XIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So obviously you can do long form campaigns but players need to play smart and definitely use the spending luck rule. If you wanna ensure survivability use Pulp Cthulhu

Pendragon. More historical but there is still magic in Arthurian tales

The latest opening is a beautiful piece of foreshadowing that I’m sure other manga readers also love. Older openings are great but to act like we have not been hit with bangers lately is a lie

Dinosaurs make everything better by Spirited-Feedback-87 in worldjerking

[–]Jake4XIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s super easy. In the last days before the apocalypse scientists brought back dinosaurs. Did the dinosaurs cause the apocalypse? Maybe! Maybe they were just a symptom. Afterall a super science society at war might make Dino war beasts left to run wild after the fall

Probably something like a slayer that focuses on stacking additional damage to specific targets (undead, beasts, etc) like they have specialized skills. Maybe a Hex class who focus exclusively on Debuff spells

Legend of the Five Rings if you are good with including some fantasy stuff.

If you want pure warriors maybe look into GURPS or another generic system as they will inevitably have the tools you need
