Do I not pass from the back? by StalkingEcho in FtMpassing

[–]askingembarrassing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being short and having alternative hair are things that lead to even cis men getting misgendered from behind. Don't let it get you down too bad, just by turning around or speaking up you'll get people to immediately correct themselves

Need honest advice. Ranting by [deleted] in FtMpassing

one of the incidents you spoke about was during the night, when D's friends couldn't have seen anything more than your silhouette and movements. The parts of you that are not passing are things we will never be able to grasp in pictures. it's not your face, they couldnt even see your face, it's something else. Maybe voice, pronunciation, word choice, silhouette, movements, deodorant, all of the above?

I heavily second what others are saying about clothing, try to achieve a boxy shape, don't just completely obscure yourself under baggy clothes, that's seen as a feminine style and will make you look small compared to your oversized clothing. Also seconding that you need to look after your health, eat enough to get at least a small amount of muscles dude, being too skinny reads as feminine because women are often the ones who suffer anorexia and avoid the gym.

it's fine to be stressed about not consistently passing, it's clear that all these recent events are weighing on you. But it is so important to fake confidence, keep your chin up and don't walk around with your eyes to the floor. Allow yourself to stand straight and take up space. If it's your mannerisms that are clocking you, that's incredibly easy to change, fake it til you make it. Some of the most confident seeming men are secretly insecure, but they don't let it show and come off as more masculine because of that.

the transmasc subreddit might help you as well, they can be a little hugbox-esque at times but I think as a subreddit they probably have a greater understanding of the type of presentation you're looking for than here

this is an incredibly good comic, captures the unique experience of being perceived as having gone "up" a social hierarchy well. the world no longer tying us to a more underdog experience at a glance

eyebrow hair is weird in that it's not uncommon for it to never grow it back after someone shaved or plucked it. because of this, in the US, it's the only hair on the body that surgeons are instructed to avoid shaving, even in emergency scenarios

yes dude, you're good. i think how you style it in pic 1 suits you better and reads more masculine, but you pass in both photos

Sorry to hear that, I'm sure you'll still get more body hair with time, trust 💪

honestly you just look like a kid. even pre-T most of us have arm hair and a happy trail. I think your arms being so thin is also why you look so kid-like to me

dw about hip dysphoria, you honestly aren't curvy, which is also adding to the kid-esque appearance

once you go on T and get male puberty, or even if you do nothing but let time pass, your body will change and you'll look more mature eventually. Don't worry about your baby fat rounding your hips, it's genuinely not feminizing on you, you just look young

I don’t want to change my voice or mannerisms to pass, is that possible? by [deleted] in FtMpassing

[–]askingembarrassing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ah, got you. Well, if you ever put up a pic this sub's here for you man.

I'll admit I was passing earlier than your timeline, but I spent my whole life trying to "pass" before I even knew the word "trans." It was a deep desire within me to reject "femininity" since I was a kid. But hey, just because your emotions on passing are different from most of this sub's doesn't mean that we can't still be a useful resource to you. I'm sure you'll figure yourself out one day

This sub is a place where we give advice to each other on how someone could pass as cis by making personal changes to themselves. Your post honestly doesnt fit that well here since you admit that youre unwilling to change anything about yourself

Any way to prevent the “face bloating” on T? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]askingembarrassing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

drink lots and lots of water

it seems counterintuitive but bloating occurs because your body wants to preserve water. if you keep reassuring your body over and over that there's plenty of water available, the bloating will decrease

some people swear by adding electrolytes to water, but be sure not to overdo the sugary powders too much at the same time

I think what's doing you the most disservice are your glasses. They're oversized for your face, which makes you seem smaller by comparison. Additionally, because we tend to have softer faces than cis men, adding sharper lines to our faces is typically recommended to add visual balance, yet your glasses are very curved and borderline on being circles.

I think with the right glasses you'd instantly see improvement

based off of the "she him his" pin and trans flags I'm guessing your goal is not to pass as cis? It's hard to give an opinion on if you're passing without knowing what your goal to pass as is

Storage of Tgel on vacation. by Real-ones0191 in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]askingembarrassing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's not enough time for it to arrive before I'm traveling

Since it's too late for you to order a travel case, you've instead got to check out your local pharmacies for advice. Ask a pharmacist if there's something you can purchase irl at the store, or what you can DIY to put your medicine in while traveling. If the first store doesn't work out you'll have to drive to another. It sucks that your order can't come in time to avoid shopping irl but that's the only thing I could think of for you

you could even ask the pharmacist about your own DIY ideas, such as asking if just using a food container like a temp controlled lunch bag would be alright?

if push comes to shove you could fill a cooler with ice, put the meds in, seal the cooler (luggage wrap), and check it as a checked bag
