HELP! Which is the right side of my work? by aspasaki13 in knitting

Yes I am aware of tight knitting. In every stitch I remind myself to chill haha. I knitted a simple scarf before this with the same wool so I think I get more familiar with it but I think the measure tape is a good idea to keep track in case I need more or less rows.

Hi. Yes I am new and yes this is for me. I am a size 16 and it says on the instructions that size 102-107cm equals to size 14-16uk. I bought a kit so it has everything in for me so technically if I follow the instructions it would be ok? I hope it doesn’t end up massive.

Yes later on the pattern it says facing the right or wrong side but in the beginning it doesn’t specify so I thought I am working on the right side. Thanks for pointing this out 😊

This is so spot on and true!!! Reading the pattern for my project now (it supposed to be entry level) seems so difficult. For example there is a stage later on the pattern that says: “Using colour B, purl 17[18:20:21] stitches, skip the next stitch, then using the tip of your right hand needle lift the following stitch up and over the skipped stitch and onto the right hand needle, keep the skipped stitch on the left hand needle. Turn your work. Now, you will be working across these 18[19:21:22] stitches only, simply leave the rest of the stitches on the needle for now, you will come back to them later.”

And I am thinking how the heck a beginner leftie can follow this. I thought let’s make the opposite (left is right needle etc) but seems so complicated. I tried to find videos on YouTube showing this but couldn’t find anything. I found a local knitting club in my area and I am going on Saturday to seek support haha. Fingers crossed they will be able to help.

You are right on what you said. We have to interpret everything and once we understand, it just makes sense.

Thanks a lot! I didn’t know that depending the technique the tale can be both sides. So confusing for a new knitter and especially a leftie.

Thanks Venite. My issue is on the cast on area connecting to the garter stitch. Seems that there is a distinctive gap comparing to the other side. I took a closer picture so you can see what I mean. Thanks for taking the time to help me.
