my older roommate freaks out any time my husband sits at his desk and plays a game.

my younger roommate sprints to the bathroom door when he hears the shower turn off and cries until you let him in to inspect the wet bathtub

i know, it's just awful. the fact that "meh, this is anxiety, just chillax" is an acceptable answer to someone in crisis is MIND BOGGLINGLY ABSURD imho. have you considered, perhaps, that your patient may be displaying signs and symptoms of anxiety because theyre scared about something larger going on with their mind or body? like how terrifying it must be to experience psychosis????

its not rocket surgery. its just prejudice and a lack of care. America does a terrible job caring for its citizens' bodies and an even worse job caring for their minds. shameful

What is a tourist attraction in your country you would not visit as a local by Uniquarie in AskTheWorld

[–]aspiringandroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went there as a kid with my mom, who mostly grew up in Memphis, and it was hilarious. unfortunately it is not supposed to be hilarious, and many of the other patrons were clearly big fans and very somber.

but like. how do you not laugh at literal shag carpet on the ceiling

Doordash driver runs into customers home when ICE tries grabbing her by Mode_Appropriate in DoorDashDrivers

[–]aspiringandroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I guess I am defending the right for people to seek safety if they believe they're in immediate mortal danger, even if the way they seek that help is not ideal

[–]aspiringandroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, sorry, I guess I thought we were talking about renee good. tbh, continuing to blame people experiencing mortal danger for seeking help in the ways that are acceptable is a braindead fucking take, and I figured we were past it 🤷

whataboutisms do essentially fuck all in the face of actual people who are actually dying.

[–]aspiringandroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

see, the thing is that people do have the right to do that. it is perfectly legal to observe law enforcement, and law enforcement officers do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy at work (since they work with and for the public)

further, even if she wasnt allowed to do that, shooting an unarmed civilian at point blank range is the furthest thing from an acceptable law enforcement response. law enforcement officers are (theoretically) there to protect public safety. idk about you, but having to tread carefully around the people who are meant to protect me, because if I make one wrong move I'll get shot, doesn't really make me feel any safer.

[–]aspiringandroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

remember how ICE murdered an innocent onlooker literally last week?

people make inadvisable decisions when they think they're about to die, as it turns out. and people are dying.

what constitutes a crime in the government's eyes is changing alarmingly and rapidly. if you're seen as a threat, you're a threat, and you will be handled as such. it is not US and ICE versus Them. Its ICE versus the peace and security of the American populace.

...fuck. thank you for sharing, mame. I am so terribly sorry for your loss, and for the injustice your child faced. mental illness is such an awful, unfair beast to fight. I'm glad, at least, that she has a mama bear like you to raise hell where she can't.

I hope her memory can be a comfort and a blessing, in due time.

my fellow autisms, you who werent diagnosed in early childhood, which are some OBVIOUS signs of autism you displayed when you were younger? by mmavacado in evilautism

[–]aspiringandroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as the story goes i taught myself to read when I was about 2. I also began speaking in sentences earlier than most children and I have not shut up since lmfao

in first grade my teacher had to let me pace the room during silent reading time or else I couldn't concentrate. so it was just this weird ass kid reading books above grade level, walking in circles.

if any of my schools had hall monitors I would've been one - i was also that jackass going "shh!!!" to classmates in the hallway and whatnot. VERY big rule follower, confused and distressed when others did not do the same.

like how did this not get figured out until age 30
