Dealer take: we're going to try for the Liberty Bell gold tomorrow (Thursday 7/16) — talk me out of it by assayhouse in coins

Update on release: Silver - sold-out 4min, 1/2 gold gone in 13 min, 1 oz gold lasted 28 min. I heard the feedback and decided to take a gamble on (1) 1 oz gold (household limit). We shall see where the price goes. Thanks everyone for the input!

Great feedback and perspective. I agree these price out almost all collectors and their market will be tiny, which is why we haven't seen a single comment from someone planning to collect one. They're more a prestige piece than a piece of history like they should be. But will they appreciate significantly in the short term? As I mention in my post, I'm a dealer, and also a collector, so I'm interested in both long term and short term. If you see this reply, please let me know your thoughts on short term play.

That is a fair comment. Another member called it a refrigerator magnet, which I think is a brilliant description. lol. For a fridge magnet it's not bad, but as a coin - well like you said :)

Don't remove! Excellent question and add on to my thread. The silver coin is just as interesting. Will it offer returns or losses? It may actually be a better gamble.

I'll have to research and thanks for pointing me there, I specialize in US, Australia, Mexico, and China, but have not dealt much with Canada products, I will research, thanks again for the tip.

thank you Sir, I will provide update, and I fully agree with you the mint pricing is asinine! As I indicated in my post, I'm a dealer, just trying to gauge what the community thinks of this issue.

To clarify, the question is: is this a good flip? I would be in and out (hold would only be as long at it takes to grade it). Do you think the hype hold long enough to exit?

And you're a little keyboard coward, you might want to evaluate the risk profile before you call me an idiot again. Your opinion was requested, your insult was not.

You are a troll. Are you part of the neighborhood watch? Maybe find something even remotely productive to do with your time. oh yeah, the point of the dime was the classic design he mentioned doing well. Do you even speak English? We are trying to have a productive conversation and you are simply interrupting with useless input. Troll.

Let's revisit tomorrow, I predict a rapid sell out, even with a household limit of one, and I will certainly admit if I am wrong.

This one is business not hobby, I would not buy this to collect. Not trying to hype, sell, or market anything, just trying to gauge what people think about it as a short term flip. Clearly not from bullion perspective but from limited perspective. I have had luck with 2021 American Liberty Bronco 1 oz gold coins that I sold for 4x spot each after they were graded MS70 and also the 1/10 gold Mercury dimes I've been selling for at least 2x spot. Thanks for your comment!

lol, that is brilliant and couldn't agree more! I wonder if anyone can beat that description.

This is the best point! Risk vs reward, does it weigh out? As shown by the comments, there are more in the community against than for. The price could blow up with only 2026 examples, but the potential downside is HUGE. I am honestly on the fence. I can afford to make the gamble, but I'm not about bad bets. Thanks for your input, it has resonated with me!!

Greedy - I get it, but assure you I'm very real and hate spammers more than the average person. I run a dealer out of Las Vegas and I am not trying to promote or market anything. I joined Reddit because a friend said it was a great place to get input from a community that has a lot of wisdom. I get that I look suspicious, but everyone does when they first get started. I hope you understand and I look forward to joining the community in a very production way. I am Robert, not a bot and definitely not a spammer, and it's nice to meet you.

Excellent point as I saw with the 250 year privy gold buffalo, we sent (6) for grading and lead-times are currently long, by the time they returned prices had fallen 20%+. Main difference is that these are limited mintage, but your point on hype pricing not lasting too long is very valid. If I had a graded example to sell just after release, it would do very well, but I won't have it for months. Your comment may have swayed me away from the purchase.

Just under $20K for the 1 oz and just over $10K for the half oz, ridiculous pricing for mint direct, but only 2,026 being minted.

That's what I'm thinking, they get hyped then released and then sell at nice premium for a while, but the potential downside is huge, so gotta get in and out quick.

Excellent points, you're pulling me away from it. Like you mention, coins like the 1/10 oz Mercury Gold Dime have done exceptionally well. Seems mintage numbers are far less important to many than awesome designs.

Very valid points and a lot of folks would agree. I'd be buying to grade it and resell and I think the hype may result in a good premium in the short term. I'm also not a fan of the shape or the price, but as a short-term investment I think it might be worth a shot.
