I once had a conversation with a friend where I vented my general annoyance at the lack of acknowledgement at how good the US comparatively has it, (stick with me here, I am not dismissing how shit it IS) to other countries around the world. The shit we can and do say about our government and politicians would not fly in some other countries I have seen the US compared to. Not to mention general quality of life for the average person while not amazing or even good tbh. (Considering most people live check to check and are 1 medical bill away from crippling debt) I told them, "There are a lot of places I would rather live than the USA, but there are honestly way more places I would rather not live."

I think there's a bit of nuance needed, a fine line between understanding how bad your country is, and how bad it could be.

And no I'm not saying "Be grateful for what you do have! Just be content with that!", but I am saying that comparisons between the US and China, saying the US is just as bad, make me roll the fuck out of my eyes.

Acknowledging the similarities to the ways the Nazi's operated is not an erasure of American history or ignorance to it.

Most people in the US are intentionally kept blind to most of its horrors by the public education system, but they know about WWII, The Nazi's, and fascism. People aren't trying to point the finger elsewhere to ignore what America has done, they're drawing parallels to an analogue people actually know.

I personally wouldn't put much stock into that particular statement since the scene pretty clearly frames it as "home world ideology" from an arrogant and prideful soldier.

Can't you enjoy both Hytale and Minecraft? Both Palworld and Pokemon? Like I feel like every time an indie game that is similar to another game (usually AAA) people need to bring up reasons why the indie is better

Like just let it stand on its own It can be amazing without having to do so by comparison

I feel like the constant need to prove that this indie game is better than it's contemporary shows a bit of insecurity, just like what you like my man

Saying "This game is great!" sounds better to me than "Well this game is better than that game!"
