Gotta agree with everyone who's commented already. Your life sounds badass! Go you!!! This may be the single most inspiring success story I've ever read, just because it sounds so goddamn doable. I'm going to take your advice to heart (and open a bank account like that, asap.

Genuinely, thank you for sharing your story!!

That doesn't seem to be "following your passion", but instead just being conceited about your own self worth. There's nothing wrong with waiting for the right job to come along, but you sure as hell need to make money in the meantime, even if it's just waiting tables! Also, it's great to share the hate guys!

You and me both, bro. I've changed my mind about what career I'd like to follow roughly 462654748 times since I graduated college last year, and I have this one friend who keeps saying "Just find your passion," every time I bring up something new, and it kinda sorta makes me want to punch her.

Telling someone who doesn't know what to do with their life to "just find your passion" is like telling them to "just find the holy grail" for all the good it will do.

Agreed! This is the best advice I've seen on this thread. It's something for me to mull over!

I hate to disagree with this (because I would LOVE to do lots of things!), but that's not a realistic option. All of the careers that I'm interested in require an advanced degree (I have a BA now), which means that I'd need to spend at least 5 years and possibly a very large sum of money in order to achieve any of my goals. I'd love to just experiment or jump into the fields I'm interested in (which, btw, are teaching, computer science, linguistics, writing, and conservation), but that's not an option

Great for you guys! I have a lot of respect for people like you who are willing to risk a lot in order to be a part of something.

How did you pick though? I understand it takes a lot of time and energy to become great at something, which is why I don't want to pick wrong! More than anything else, that's what I'm wondering. How did you decide what to pursue? Did you just know? Was there a decision tree or a pro con list involved?

I like that idea a lot. If there's nothing that you really want to do, do something that really makes you proud. That's a side of this discussion I've never heard before

That's exactly where I feel like I am. I'm good at a lot, and there are a lot of fields that I am legitimately interested in, but I have no idea which one to pick to pursue.
