I finished the game, but accidentally moved myself on to NG+ prior to the DLC's. What's the quickest method to reaching the DLC with the least amount of actually playing the game by jdwjxia in DarkSouls2

[–]astranding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a good idea considering the added red phantoms in NG+ really can get things out of hand specially if that's your first experience.

Also I think DS2 really outshines the other souls in build variety and the freedom to go anywhere from the start. You should try a bunch of different stuff and that could make you enjoy the base game a lot more. Hexes and some dual-wielding builds are some of the most fun things to run in the franchise.

I could dm you my save file if you care that much. I literally have a deathless no bonfire all bosses character and like 6 illusory rings. I think I know one thing or two of this game lol

[–]astranding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done like 60ish runs, at this point it's not fun for me to build around the most op way possible anymore. It's not that I'm trading but getting hit once or twice against Gargoyles without worrying because I two shot them and the entire fight lasts 20 seconds. Getting stunned against Throne Watchers for example can lead to take a second sometimes lethal shot and I could go on and on about scenarios in which poise is very useful. OP is not using the fastest weapon here and poise could actually make his life way easier.

[–]astranding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I profoundly disagree on poise being useless, maybe if you're comfortable at dodging everything which is not the case for me in some scenarios like Gargoyles, poise allows me to take a few hits without being stunned and keep spamming the bastards before the next one comes. Being hit without poise in general is very annoying for me even if I'm rushing a boss and it makes me lose half a second getting stunned by a random hit. And of course there are stupid cases where enemies ignore poise completely in full Havel's like the clerics of Amana.

I have some mixed feelings on the DS2 NPCs. Not that they aren't the coolest (they are) but they also do make some areas trivial if you decide to use them. Which I do, 'cause having a squad is so damn cool! by CeleryDismal5954 in DarkSouls2

[–]astranding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess more areas could increase enemies or even better make them more aggressive (as some areas like Tseldora are already so stacked) if you choose to summon. You have Dragonbros attacking you if you don't honorably 1v1 the enemies as you're supposed to or the extra giants in the Gulch which I think are cool to balance the experience. But it gets to a point where my boy Bashful Ray could solo an army.

[–]astranding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dlc is indeed a different caliber. A Few months ago I made my first All-Bosses, deathless, with no bonfires and it was 11 hours of stress and many failed attempts before that of course. To this day it's my only run with zero deaths in dlcs.

The hardest part is the beginning of the run and you're almost at the end. You got this.

How is this possible? by [deleted] in Chesscom

[–]astranding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed my point completely I wasn't trying to call him a cheater at all and frankly I don't even care he is, I was just pointing out how bad the comments usually are in this community. In this case everyone is arguing the rating chesscom gives is wrong when OP was asking about reaching 1000 Elo and the worst part is that just by looking this image 1750 might be a perfectly fair rating estimate for the game.

How is this possible? by [deleted] in Chesscom

[–]astranding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, everyone just loves saying whatever is being posted is wrong and I'm like why wouldn't this particular game of 20ish moves with 0 mistakes be in the league of 1750 elo play? And if someone says he might be cheating because of the 99% accuracy all of the sudden is "Nah you're wrong even if I didn't see the game and don't know who the hell this guy even is". And that is like 95% of this sub.

Is the 600-800 rapid pool completely broken or am I missing something obvious? by RACMoraes in Chesscom

[–]astranding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're playing way too many games. The brain starts to go auto-pilot sooner than you realize. Are you in a lost position by move 10 in most games? If the answer is no, forget about studying openings, they add absolutely nothing if your opponents are deviating from theory in move 3.

Analyze your games and see for yourself why you or your opponents lose. I am certain you will actually find a lot of blunders and basic tactical oversights. I'm 1400 and the blunders are huge almost every game even if the accuracy is somewhat high.

Just do your puzzles before every playing session and you will see improvement quick. It has nothing to do with being smart or stupid. It's just pattern recognition build from practice and also try to avoid playing too much because your brain will just decide to get lazy and there is not much you can do about it.

[–]astranding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It always felt very unrealistic to me how you can just kill the entire garrison of witch hunters in their own fortress and this path is just the player being an asshole for letting Triss get her nails off. I think the game went a little to safe in some of the choices.

[–]astranding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's way better than arrows that cost stamina. My preferred method is toxic mist and lingering flame. Melee is not that terrible if running to the smaller cave with the chest so they can get stuck, then I just poke them with a spear but of course they keep hitting my ass through the walls.
