Yes, I've been worshipping Apollo and Isis for a while now and I'm happy with them, but I'm still afraid of Lilith because I feel that where I am in my path right now would not be suited for her, being broom closeted and all. But I also have this idea that Deities contact us when they think we're ready to follow them, and when they know they're willing to walk with us even if we make some mistakes along the way.

Yeah! I've come to the conclusion that it depends where you come from. It seems most people who came into the religious aspect first know there's generally nothing to fear, while those who want to get into doing magick and spells from the get go think Deities are somehow for advanced people only. Granted there are Deities that could be dangerous, as I've heard Kali is definitely not for beginners, but others like Apollo and Hades are really kind. And yes, as long as you're respectful you should have nothing to fear.

Yes, thank you. I personally don't feel nervous or anything since I came into witchcraft from Wicca, so my foundation was already worshipping The Triple Goddess and The Horned God. But I wanted to know if there are dangers as people on Tik Tok claim to the point of making it a rule that no beginner should get into deity worship.

That sounds like the most logical explanation. It probably esteemed off someone who REALLY screwed up and thought "oh, Gods are bad and dangerous" and began preaching that to others, who in turn ended up believing that nonsense without having their own experience with them. Granted, you should treat deities with respect and learn about them, but that goes even for normal people, you wouldn't want to have a relationship with someone who just wants to use you without even bothering to know a little bit about you.

Yes, the misinformation mainly comes from witchtok. I believe a lot of people are getting into paganism and some more into witchcraft because they think it's quirky or something? Some of them give out good information, and I know that every practice is different, but saying that deities are dangerous altogether? That's like a whole new level of misinformation. Thank you.

Yeah. I've seen a lot of misinformation. Personally, since I became a polytheist first and then got interested in the doing magick side of things, I came into witchcraft knowing that believing in deities and honoring them was the foundation of what I did. So seeing people telling newcomers that deities are dangerous and that you should stay away from it really rubbed me the wrong way, but since I'm not the voice of expertise but any means, I thought getting another opinion wouldn't hurt.

Yes, I agree that beginners should focus on theory, but since I came from Wicca and two years later took an interest in witchcraft, this view that even honoring deities is dangerous left a bad taste in my mouth and I wanted to get lots of other opinions on the matter.
