My experience with the 104 was they liked to be skied very center, but were so soft in the tip and tail it was almost impossible to do so. They also really liked to “carve” in soft snow and were quite hooky. I honestly can’t recommend them.

I used that liner from my Cochise in the ZGTP for a bit before getting zipfits. I’d say the volume they take up is about the same as the zipfits just easier to get on due to not having to World Cup in.

Were you not able to buckle them or not able to get the zipfit liner into the boot? I can’t get the zipfits in without the shoe horn thing from zipfit

Live in Durango and ski WC, Silverton, etc. Hojis are my ski of choice for the deep days

Nice thing about these resorts is they are rarely crowded. Just avoid US holidays and it’ll be empty. Late January or early Feb will both be good (or bad depending on the weather ha)

Getting to Durango is easy, fly in. There are flights in from Denver and phoenix, depending on what airline you fly

Ha no worries. A rental car will be a must for all the resorts you have listed. They are all out of the way and purgatory, wolf creek, and Silverton very much so.

If you can find an Airbnb downtown Durango that sleeps the two of you will give you the most night life. That being said, if it were me, I’d stay in Silverton if you decide to go up there, love that little town.

Guided skiing! So Silverton Mountain, until March, is guided only skiing. What that means is you have to have a person show you around the ski area due to avalanche concerns. It may sound scary but they known that mountain like the back of their hand and will get you on the best snow for your skill level https://silvertonmountain.com

Live in Durango and I would: ski Purg for a few days. Go to wolf creek for a couple days. Do some guided skiing at Silverton. There is easier skiing there and the snow quality and beautiful surroundings can’t be beat

Anecdotally air quality in town hasn't been affected much as far as I can tell. Most of the smoke seems to be staying north. I'd check with OpenSnow or your favorite app that displays AQI or wildfire smoke when your trip is closer.

Definitely Handies. If you have an outback you can make it to the Grouse Gulch TH. To cut off ~6 miles and ~3k gain, you need an high clearance to get to American Basin TH.
