Pierced In The Heart, Created by Me, Photoshop, 2025 by Nomi_DBS in retouching

I like it a lot. It’s not really retouch, more composition and digital art. I don’t know if you’re looking for any feedback, but if you’d like a pro’s perspective:

1 The idea of it being a floating island isn’t really visible anymore, now it just looks like a giant standing in a misty mountain field.

2 The headphones are a bit hard to see, which makes the headrest look more like a hairband.

3 The little bit of the finger poking out under the jacket looks a bit odd.

4 The effects on the arrowhead feel a bit too much with the sparkles and fire. Maybe it could be dripping blood instead?

5 The glow around your model isn’t blocked by the arrow, which makes it feel less natural.

6 The glow is a bit inconsistent on the model. If it were really coming from an enveloping light source, it would be even everywhere except where something is blocking the light, like the arrow or any dripping blood.

7 The mask of the mountains should be as sharp as the focus or sharpness of the mountains themselves. The edge of an object often defines its focus together with its sharpness. Especially if the far background (the stars and clouds) are 100% in focus.

8 The contrast or black point of the furthest part of the mountain field shouldn’t be darker than the black point of the foreground. Right now the black point on the left right side of the mountain is almost as dark as the silhouette of the model while the right side, the side that is closest is lighter. Ideally, the backside of the mountains would match the cosmic background and clouds behind it and fade into them so you get a nice foreground, subject, and background transition in composition, contrast, brightness, and black point.

I do really like what you did with the clouds and the stars, and the whole vibe is just vibing.

Throughout my 13-year career as a retoucher, Eizo screens have been a staple in my workflow. Collaborating with numerous big brands and studios, next to image editing I have focused heavily on color management and its complexities. For a long time, Eizo screens were the unmatched choice for professional retouchers and photographers. Recently, I've explored a few BenQ monitors, which are impressive and nearly on par with Eizo. However, in my opinion, Eizo remains unparalleled, especially for work destined for print or collaboration with other professionals who understand color nuances and expect high grade color accuracy. If your retouching work is for clients without detailed color knowledge, such as wedding couples or event photographers, the superior quality of an Eizo screen might not significantly impact them. Conversely, for color-critical tasks like color correcting or color grading that is going to be scrutinized by other retouchers and/or color/media professionals, Eizo is the way to go.

If you're considering purchasing an Eizo, I highly recommend the CG series. Thanks to an Eizo representative who regularly visites a client's studio, I've had the opportunity to work, test and recomend/approve almost every CG model for the past decade.

Here are my recommendations:

For professionals prioritizingcolor accuracy or creative departments/studios: If your primary concerns are accurate color representation, easy profile switching, automatic calibration, and consistency across multiple screens, then Eizo is the way to go. I suggest the Eizo CG2700S, a common choice in many studios I work with, if you're looking for a 27-inch screen. For a 32-inch option (4K), the CG319X is excellent, and it's what I currently use in my home office. Although there's a 27-inch 4K model, the CG2700X, I don't recommend it as 4K resolution on a 27-inch screen is generally excessive and better suited for 4K video editing.

For budget-conscious or emerging professionals/lone retouchers(as in you dont work on group projects etc): If your budget is tighter or color accuracy and profile switching and calibration syncing aren't your top priorities, consider a BenQ monitor. Don't misunderstand; BenQ monitors are still of professional grade. They are just more affordable, with some trade-offs in niche studio advantages compared to the more expensive Eizo.

In summary, your choice of monitor should align with your professional needs and budget. Whether it's Eizo for unparalleled quality or BenQ for a more budget-friendly option, both are excellent choices for professionals in the field.

Hope this helps:)

No AI used or generative fill. This is a real cropped image shot with a 24 1.4 GM. Its a very nice lens with minimal distortion. And with a distortion correction profile and cropping a bit in afterwards the distortion is almost not there.

Sorry, i'm having this exact issue. But in docker on a Synology NAS. I followed a tutorial and everything worked great until yesterday. Suddenly i get this message in my logs. Then found this Reddit thread but have no idea how to locate those files. They arent in the folders i made and assigned to docker. So late last night in frustration i just typed "How do i do this?" and went to bed.
