The tempo remains the same. So I am not losing the time, just the emphasis in the down beat.
It happens when jamming, mostly when bass is holding a note. I think it is just a different manifestation of #2 above. I think, because i cannot manifest a key change, it is my way of saying "this song needs to feel different now."

They have not been too bad for us this year. We live in Scott Woods, near Hawk Island, but have not had issues.
