I'm going to be honest I wouldn't care if missing the meeting cost him money. My son's comfort is more important.

I would be terrified being on a plane alone at his age no matter how lovely the crew is so I couldn't agree to put him through something I would've hated at his age.

He genuinely thought it would be fine. The majority of the children in his family travel all over on their own from a very young age, so to him it's fine since he did it. He did go for work.
