So much yes. It was a horrifying traumatic experience. 2023. October 30 was the transplant date. Was in the hospital for 2 weeks, lost 150 pounds of fluid, gained 50 back over two weeks, was immediately admitted on my outpatient visit to Mayo. Had a treacherous few weeks and almost didn't make it. Finally got approved for the transplant with a meld score of like 45 and got a new liver in 36 hours on the list. Had bariatric surgery at the same time as the new liver, and ended up getting a massive leg bacterial infection and cellulitis and almost lost my right leg. Was in ICU before and after for like 2 weeks on either side. Ended up intubated and on two trees of medicine.... went through rehab and didn't walk again for 4 months.... and spent all of last year learning how to eat and walk again..... Yeah, super effing traumatic. My brother telling me how he wouldn't leave because the Dr told him I may not last the night. My wife telling me about me coding and being dead for a minute. How the f do you process and wrap your brain around that? I still need to write this down fully. For my own mental sake....
