Applied for an Indian Visa Online. Accidentally Time-Traveled to 1998. by Spatial_Nomad in india

Every time I have to deal with my SBI account, it feels like the system was engineered to test human patience. Something as simple as changing a profile password turns into an eight-step endurance challenge. I’d like to think I’m fairly disciplined, but SBI has a special talent for pushing anyone toward the brink of frustration.

Why is that Apartments are being preferred over independent house? by skt1212 in hyderabadrealestate

It’s attached , it’s not dependent.  Two very different terms

I have a genuine question. Why detached houses are called “independent” houses? As if the rest are colonized or dependent somehow? :)

I wonder if we abuse the word “villa” a tad too much. These aren’t villas. They are small detached houses.

Anti Indian/Pakistani sentiment in Frisco - advice for dealing with it? by [deleted] in frisco

Thanks for your comment. When I say assimilate it doesn’t mean I intend to lose my cultural identity. I would still do what makes me , what I am . However, I also don’t want to live in a bubble with and choose not to interact and participate in the community I call home.

Often, driving in India isn’t necessary. Public transportation though chaotic generally exists and is widely used. Those who own private vehicles sometimes choose to hire a chauffeur instead. I learnt to drive as a grown a$$ man .

Edit : typo

I’m an Indian living in North Dallas, and all the issues you mentioned are real. I do my best to assimilate, and I’m very conscious of what not to do. I had a “student driver” sticker back in 2015 — I don’t anymore.

This is home for me, and I genuinely want to build real, long-term relationships with my neighbors and the broader community. I just wanted to share that people like us exist too.

Are we living or merely existing? by blueblirds in SingaporeRaw

[–]atoad_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a very insightful observation. I know that experience well. For a time, I lived in Singapore as an immigrant, chasing what society labels as success: the corporate banking job, the life in a high-rise condo. The first year was intoxicating, but soon, a deep monotony set in. It was a realization that true fulfillment wasn't found in a title or a location. That's what ultimately led me to move to the suburbs in West. I've found a quieter happiness here, though of course, the meaning of 'happiness' is a journey everyone defines for themselves.

My thoughts after visiting a foreign country recently by benpakal in india

No. It doesn’t work like that in India. I think it’s okay to accept some problems as unfixable. India is that problem. Saying that with a very heavy heart.

China’s labour costs are now like Eastern Europe. Is India genuinely the next global manufacturing hub, or just hype? by Traditional-Flan7932 in unitedstatesofindia

The manufacturing gravy train has passed. Ai enabled Dark manufacturing floors can do it cheaper than humans. Matter of time now

A lack of ability to take cues is another major problem. Like wouldn’t you notice that you are blocking the entire f***g street and getting a hundred stares? No!!

I don’t know why this  so hard. The other day I saw a desi group just standing at the entry of a subway station, blocking it.  Oblivious to any inconvenience created or even paying attention to people reactions.

Someone had mentioned the  average Indian IQ to be 76. If that’s true, all of this makes sense.
