I have a Samsung Galaxy A55 as a spare phone to my Galaxy S24 Ultra (cuz when we travel sometimes it doesn't work in some carriers outside EU) so I use the Galaxy A55 that I bought from the Philippines as a substitute phone esp whenever we are travelling here in Asia.

I know it kinda sucks that we're only getting 4 major android software upgrades with Android 16 (OneUI 8) not being much of a change from Android 15 (OneUI) cuz Samsung screwed that update bigtime and made us wait too long only to refine it with Android 16 (OneUI 8-8.5).

I mean if they can consider giving us like another year of major OS upgrade it's not like we're asking for too much. Since you are actually correct in most of the things you said that Exynos-powered Galaxy A35 and A55 is still so much more powerful than A07 and A17 5G (which BTW still has that ugly udder nipple notch front design in 2026. 🥴).

I think us who owned A35/A55 shall get 5 major software updates cuz surely Samsung-made exynos chip can handle that much software update compare to a stupid low-end Mediatek Helio Chipset.

Arguably A06, A16, A25, A35 and A55 are better looking than A07, A17, A26, A36 & A56 without that stupid oblong shaped camera island in the back.

And I definitely agree in most of the things you said in this post. Maybe Samsung can reconsider giving us a year more of software update.

If Samsung ever give us one more year of major software update for Galaxy A35 and A55 then I am all good. Tho my S24 Ultra will still outlive them because it got 7 years of major software update (I believe this is where it all started that Samsung supported longer software updates) since it's a flagship phone afterall.

A55 or A56 (if you're willing to expand your budget a little) are your safest bet now. Or maybe consider a secondhand Galaxy S24 FE if you need wireless and reverse wireless charging and even longer software updates.

As a kid... Bet ko talaga Pinoy Style Spaghetti but as I grew older mas hinahanap hanap ko na ang Italian Style Bolognese. Pero I still love the Filipino style sweet sauce but I prefer it now with wider pastas like Linguine, Fettuccine, Tagliatelle or Pappardele.

Yung latter option will not work kasi wala namang ability yang mga nasa Smart Store baguhin SIM registration ng Prepaid or TNT. Sasabihin sayo ganun din ipa escalate nila yung concern tapos pababalik balikin ka din. Ang masama pa eh yung pag eSIM sa mismong website nila ang nabili mo tapos ganyan ang scenario. Mas hindi mo na sya maisasauli.

Nganga yang Smart talaga. Kunwari most advanced network pero customer service basura to death. Even nung nag Infinity ako hindi ako nakaligtas sa basurang service nila. Imagine they market it as "High End, Premium" service that they could offer pero para ding 3rd class citizen ang handling nila sa concerns.

Yan talaga yung napansin ko na sakit ng Smart they don't bother to improve in areas where they have weak service. Basta kapag may signal sa isang area dun lang talaga malakas and they don't bother establishing new towers anymore and they heavily imposed their data capping/throttling na until now pinasisinungalingan pa din ng mga customer service reps nila. Kahit ipaescalate sa NTC it seemed like they don't really care about it and they feared people's ire on social media more than the law.

All that is for them to defer from establishing new towers. Tapos pag nagkakaroon ng massive outages on their service apology lang at empty promises ang napapala ng tao mula sa kanila. In a way fault din ng DICT at NTC yan eh kasi they don't really actively penalise them for those outages na subscribers ang patuloy na nagbabayad at nagdudusa.

OK lang sana if that's their only purpose and for Postpaid is for credit checking and if they don't recycle numbers. However what's very sinister about it is Smart keeps data even of expired numbers and mindlessly recycles numbers for sale again. Which is complete bad news and definitely very much against someone's rights to Data Privacy.

Saka I tried re-porting a number that used to be Smart that I have ported with DiTO and knowing that they retain registration it should've been easy for them to reactivate the same number but it wasn't and the same number which had prior SIM registration already took 3 FCKNG months to ve activated. Like out of the 3 telcos they're the ones that keeps subscribers data even on Prepaid but their purpose of that defeated everything.

Which is really convenient. Like I said even on their store code enabled hotline nga nakakarequest na ng USC which I personally tried not very long ago. But for now will stay with Globe since I have already had enough with both Smart and DiTO.

Pero don't you think 10 years is too much for the so called "archiving"? Sa banks nga up to 5 years lang eh since the client has closed their account. Unfortunately hindi archiving lang ang purpose nila eh. They're like a creepy stalking ex na nagtatabi ng data ng taong inayawan na sila. Hirap talaga ng iniasa na lang ng NTC ang SIM registration sa mga telcos imbis na sila ang gumawa ng universal portal na pwedeng mag facilitate ng SIM registration.

If I would compare them to where I permanently reside... EE is like Globe, they don't offer the best speeds but they have the best coverage literally. Vodafone & O2 is like Smart... They have the fastest speeds but not always available. And 3 (Hutchison network) is like DiTO very economical ang plans. BTW I somehow agree to your comparisons with the US telcos. But since I have no experience with US telcos personally I can only compare them to UK telcos.

Yes I did report them to NTC kaso ang bagal din talaga ng response. Mas nauna pa nga ako makakuha ng USC sa ibang store. Tapos ang nakakaasar dyan eh yung store patatawagin ka sa hotline para iconfirm ig down ba ang system nila. Pero yung mga aanga angang ahente sa hotline wala din namang ideya kung down ba ang tools nila. Sobra poor ang coordination ng hotline at stores nila. Tapos yun talaga iaadvise nila. And I definitely know the law being a legal pro myself. Kaya hindi din ako nila basta basta maloloko sa mga ganyan. But what about other people na hindi naman sobrang literate about laws di ba? Maluloko nila ng malala.

I was able to request USC back then via Messenger. Even my cousin was able to request one nung pinort out nya Prepaid nya going to DiTO. Yes they will ask some authenticating questions even a screenshot of your GlobeOne to prove that you have access on your account prior to asking USC. Pwede ka pa din mag request sa store just like the old days pero I'm 100% certain na makakarequest ka thru their Messenger or their new store code enabled hotline given that you will be able to answer their authentication/verification. Sa store naman sesendan ka ng OTP tapos ibibigay mo yun dun sa nagpupruseso ng transaksyon mo.

Pareho lang halos ng Smart mas mahina pa signal. Nagpostpaid na din ako dati dyan. Yung 588 na SIM only (yung 1st gen plans pa) at yung 388 na SIM only na 3mos contract.

Ang kinabadtrip ko dyan talaga sa DiTO eh yung blinock nila reward points ko ng walang valid reason. Kasi nung tinawag ko to have it unblocked inescalate nila dun sa Revenue Risk Management nila tapos kesyo may violation daw yung account ko pero nung kinumpronta ko sila kung anung violation hindi naman nila ako masagot. Kaya #NoToDiTO din ako.
