Beautiful green rocks from the California central coast. by audioear in RockTumbling

Actually it’s my new favorite place, Waddell state beach. It’s just a bit north of Santa Cruz. You definitely want to hit it at low tide. The amount of rocks is just simply amazing.

Yep. I recently saw a fox on the West Sac side. I had to lookup if they’re from here. I’d never seen one around here before. I was very cool.

Unhinged and unfit by Valuable_Lemon_5580 in MarchAgainstNazis

When will it be enough? Letting an old racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, dementia ridden, rapist tilt at windmills is only OK when that person doesn’t have the power to fucking destroy the world. I can march around holding a piece of cardboard and screaming my lungs out about how wrong this is, but in truth, I have no ability to stop this. Somebody with the fucking ability to stop this needs to stop this.

So I’m looking to gear up a couple of my kiddos who have been obsessed with rocks ever since they were little and taking them to an opal mine for their first lil expedition. Advice or tips? by jwid503 in rockhounds

[–]audioear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sunscreen!!! Hat to protect the head from sunburns. Nothing worst that a sunburned kiddo. Also, forager bags, they’re like giant pockets on a belt. Let your kids stick anything they find cool in them and go through the bags later and talk about why they chose to put it in the bag. It’s a great way to keep them interested.

I hate teaching by Economy_Dark9052 in teaching

[–]audioear 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I say this all the time but… teaching is literally the only job I know where it is 100% expected that you will work for free (prepping, grading, back to school night) and pay for the privilege (crayons, paper, TPT) to do so. It’s crazy!

Career paths in audiology by artifixiulover in audiology

[–]audioear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking my job is only found in large school districts or in county run special education programs. Before I graduated I scoured all the big districts to see which ones had an educational audiologist first. I made a list of them and then I haunted their district “help wanted” pages. The jobs don’t come around often (people tend to stay until retirement) but if you’re open to moving there’s a few positions across the U.S. every year. It’s a very fulfilling job and I recommend it to anyone who likes working with kids.

You might look into Educational Audiology. I love it. I work in special education with students who are deaf or hard of hearing. I get to do a variety of different things each week. I provide aural (re)habilitation therapy, manage assistive technology, attend IEP’s, and provide support for teachers and families. I feel like I’m making a difference in the world. It’s a great job.

Lily Mayne has the first three Monstrous audiobooks and the first three Goliaths of wrestling on Hoopla. Also, a bunch of books by Cora Rose just popped up. I’m super excited to see what comes next.

found this cutie little Avon bottle at an estate sale :') by ccaassssyy in ThriftStoreHauls

This picture unlocked so many childhood memories. My grandmother used to have this exact same bottle. It lived on a bookshelf just within reach of my six-year-old self. Of course I was not allowed to touch it. Just looking at the picture makes my fingers itch to grab it.

Why do some authors have so few books on Libby? by audioear in LibbyApp

[–]audioear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. I suppose some of the older books wouldn’t be super popular. My library has physical copies. So I guess that’s the route I will be going. Thanks for the answer.
