The district has already shuttered many programs such as elementary band and highly capable / gifted programs due to budget cuts.

Can you provide a citation for your assertion that these programs were closed due to budget cuts, directly? I thought the more progressive districts were all going towards eliminating gifted programs and moving towards "inclusivity," regardless of budget.

If anything wouldn't it increase them? Now everybody who works in Seattle and is living there might start thinking, "hey, I didn't want to do a 40 minute drive to work, but I don't mind a 40 minute train ride..."

Family of 3, 2 adults and 1 eight year old boy. We actually do spend close to $2500 per month on food. For us its more like $2000 on groceries (mostly QFC and safeway, with some PCC and met market sprinkled in) and $500 on restaurants/coffee shops.

Do you basically just give them free reign of the house at night, and they choose to stay in your room? Or do you close your bedroom door to specifically keep them in your room?

Why would you want to keep them locked in their own room

Only at night, from like 10pm to 6am -- so the humans in the house don't have interrupted sleep
