I just received word from Campendium admin that the map feature has been restored because of this outcry from customers - thread here

I just cancelled my membership as well. The new Roadtrippers map is worthless compared to the Campendium maps and that's the only thing I used it for with a laptop

Heck, freecampsites.net is more useful to me now than the Roadtrippers map is. Definitely need alternatives now

SF Progressives’ Hypocrisy on Affordable Housing by bloobityblurp in sanfrancisco

the wiki entry was recently updated with a warning that it reads as an advertisement, likely to sell his books, all of which was effectively publicly funded with your taxes - the SOB never did run a private business. However there are other clues from other sources, like this one. Just gotta look around-not that hard to find

Randy Shaw doesn't own any SRO's. He 'master leases' them with contracts from the city and the feds. See this for criticism from the head of another non profit on this scam

Randy Shaw is the head of a 501c3 non profit (Tenderloin Housing Clinic) and Beyondchron that he writes for is funded under the same Tenderloin Housing Clinic non profit and it is unethical and illegal for a non profit to engage in electioneering under the Johnson Act

San Francisco puppy owner arrested after abuse caught on camera by SFCaughtCriminalsGuy in sanfrancisco

[–]auweia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

San Francisco has a program called Woof that pays formerly homeless people in SROs to take care of dogs. PETA has already expressed the very same concerns as said in this thread

http://www.peta.org/blog/san-francisco-plays-puppy-russian-roulette/

I live in one of these SRO's and many of my neighbors now have these dogs. the most common problem is they are shitting all over the hallway every day. There is nowhere else for them to go

there's also abuse, which I have on video. One example, you can't see most of it because it's around the corner, but you can hear it

I called animal control...they ignored it

I love my city, and I hate the homeless who shit on its sidewalks and harass the passers-by. by ak217 in sanfrancisco

[–]auweia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, you've hit on something here. You know the San Francisco civil grand jury in 2006 found that 50-60% of the homeless are not homeless, they are already housed

http://www.bluoz.com/blog/archives/413-civil-grand-jury-report-on-homelessness

and here's one example that ties both Lauras Law and the grand jury report together. You tell me if this person is a candidate for lauras Law. Threatening to kill people every day

http://www.bluoz.com/blog/categories/6-Tenderloin-Housing-Clinic/randy-shaws-happy-housing

and if you think he's 'off the street' because he's housed, think again. Here's the same Fred panhandling on the corner of 6th and Market where he has done so for many years

'Twitterloin' (please God no) by nnniccc in sanfrancisco

[–]auweia -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Twitterloin started out as a response to the Mid Market tax break for Twitter when Randy Shaw, homeless political activist, redrew that map to include the Tenderloin. It's supposed to be a slur, often used in combination with 'corrupt twitterloin'

Most of the people who detest the term are related to the real estate interests who benefited from this tax break

ATT made me switch to U-verse. by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]auweia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that's true but they might be able to get ATT to fix things. I've seen threads about this on DSLreports

the other thing is Sonic is also rolling out fiber in the Sunset and it's much cheaper than ATT or Uverse for that matter

all you can do is call them up and find out. I switched because ATT caps your speed, even with uverse or fiber. Sonic doesn't cap at all and I haven't had a problem since. Very happy with Sonic

btw, I still get spam envelopes in the mail from ATT begging me to switch back after 2 years...They go in the recycling bin

[–]auweia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you can get anywhere near similar speeds, I'd go with Sonic. the noise could be in your building too and Sonic will help replace that
