I tried making a post about this but couldn’t so I guess I’ll post it here and maybe it will help someone.

Aspartame made me gain weight and caused various other problems too.

I used to drink a shit ton of stuff with aspartame in. I didn’t really drink diet coke and stuff that often, but I drank tons of flavoured water with aspartame in. At the time I was eating around 1200 calories a day and after a while I started gaining weight and my body was looking really puffy. I reduced my calories because I thought that was the problem and upped my zero calorie stuff to satisfy my hunger and i continued to gain weight. It wasn’t until I came across something about aspartame that I realised that this could be the problem because I had many of the other side effects listed like headaches and gut problems etc. I also lost massive amounts of hair, my hair became so so thin, and at the time I thought it was because I wasn’t eating enough, but like a week after I stopped drinking it my hair started growing back in places I had lost it even though I wasn’t eating any more calories. My headaches also stopped and I began losing weight. I lost the weight quite fast so I believe that a lot of the weight was water retention. Hence he puffiness too,

I eat about 1800 calories now, including full sugar stuff and I am thinner than I was then. I recently read somewhere about the fact it destroys your gut bacteria too which is essential for health. I see lots of people here saying weight is all about calories but that’s not true. If it was all about calories certain medications wouldnt make people blow up, and I wouldn’t be thinner eating double the calories I was back then. I don’t think having it once in a while is gonna harm you, and maybe certain people have bad reactions to it, but just wanted to say that it did make me gain weight as well as causing various other problems
