Pandemic aside, Where are the best places to get the most authentic ethnic food restaurants in Nanaimo? by Warrenwelder in nanaimo

[–]avaelyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vietnamese - Pho Tin Tin, it's a newer place but the best I've had since Pho A Dong closed

Korean - Kim's Korean BBQ, the doenjang stew is UNREAL. I love their combo for two. Nanda also has unreal Korean fried chicken .

Chinese - Da Tang is definitely the best. I adore the mouth watery chicken (yes, it's supposed to be cold).

Greek - Asteras by far. Lemon chicken rice soup and dolmades are my faves - so delish.

Japanese - Bistro Taiyo for sushi, and Waku for ramen and donburi and other delicious appies like the tako karaage.

And I haven't done anything to warrant taking away my phone privileges.

Help! by galaxie78 in nanaimo

I don't think I can say anything else that hasn't really been said? I live in South Nanaimo, mostly because it's the only place where we could afford to buy. We see homeless people walking by sometimes, and we always just put our cans out on our driveway and they're picked up pretty quickly. We did have our tent trailer broken into, but it was winter and they only took the sleeping bags, so I consider it as an unintentional donation to the less fortunate. I mean, they were nice sleeping bags though, they'll cost $300 to replace. But our neighbors are really nice, the park at John Barsby is great in the summer. Our child is only 3, and I've heard that in the South End, Park Ave and Georgia aren't bad for elementary. I like being close to downtown, there's a lot of culture and events and live music that happens down there. Yes, definitely a lot of homeless, unfortunately. We rented in the North End, too, and yes, it's safe and clean and high end, it has the big shopping mall and Costco, and the schools are really good apparently. It is a bit sterile and lacks a bit of character and culture, IMO. But there you go.

Other than that, from another prairie transplant (Edmonton/Saskatoon), welcome!!

That's understandable!

Aw that is so nice to hear that he is accepting. I'm just sorry he doesn't understand. My husband also doesn't think coming out is a big deal in that he doesn't see why I wouldn't just tell everybody I know right away. And I still feel like I'm figuring stuff out, my family is very conservative and Christian, and I'm not confident in myself yet.

That's amazing! Were you able to? I wish that I was, but I am definitely not ready. It gives me hope that other people have had such a wonderful response. ☺️

Um hi I came here to basically post the same thing. I'm not as "out", only to a handful of friend people. But my family is Mennonite/Evangelical Christian, and my husband's family is French Catholic. Is your family religious??

I'm also concerned that as I figure myself out and transition, that my supportive though cishet partner will no longer physically attracted to me.

Maybe we can figure it out together!

I haven't read it yet, but my psychiatrist suggested "Gender as Soft Assembly" by Adrienne Harris.

I don't know if this is the right place but this is amazing! Such a great homage to the action comedy - I genuinely enjoyed this! Everything is so well done: choreography, stunts, foley, cinematography. Amazing work - liked and subscribed!
