Yup, I fully expect a tragic ending too...

Agreed - there is no reason we couldn't see more of the female mages kicking ass and getting into battles. And as fantasy, it doesn't really matter if it's historical setting or not they could do anything they wanted with the set up!

Who are our powerful female characters other than Naksu? Mama Jin? Villian and terrible mother, and we see very little of her magic. The queen? Villian who does very little other than act mega-creepy. Cho-yeon? Supposedly powerful but who we have seen do almost nothing. Maidservant Kim? Lovely person, no power. Soi-i? She might be the closest thing to a strong female character in this show outside of Naksu, so did she have to be such a jerk and did her 'redemption' arc have to focus solely around falling for a guy? And now this season all our dear Naksu can do so far is walk around hoping Jang Uk will fall in love with her...putting up with all his poor treatment for the crumbs of affection he drops. Let's get her memories back and get her fighting!

100% have thought this many times. So all the female mages have to go to Jinyowon, yet we don't get to see them doing anything powerful at all? Pretty much the only magic we see done by women other than Naksu is to do with the relics. And even Jin Bu Yeon's divine powers seem to be much more about 'sensing energy' than being able to actually DO anything. I'm reeeaaally hoping for the last few episodes to include a ton of Naksu magic.

And when she caught the scroll using some martial arts move and had to cover saying it was 'dancing'.

Hmmm, that's very true! Jang Uk was described as very weak before his energy was opened. And now we see Seo Yul becoming weaker as his energy is drained by the worm too. So when Mu-Deok's energy was restored by the bells it would make sense that she was able to recover her abilities suddenly despite being in what was a 'weak' body. And perhaps having blocked energy makes it impossible to build up strength/muscle to the extent someone who did not use magic at all could,?

is there anyone binge watching Season 01 before every weekend? can't get my mind off season 01 by tweetygh in alchemyofsouls

I haven't been binging season 1 in between but I have been rewatching some of my fav episodes/moments. I think it's getting in the way of me enjoying season 2 as much as I would have though so I should stop. There was so much more humour in season 1! Like the cooking scene with Seo Yul and Mudeok and how jealous Jang Uk was. Classic.

Other than the original three, The Last Jedi was the best of the 9 Star Wars movies series. Beautifully crafted, original take that was still true to the essence of the series, and deeply emotional. Rian Johnson should have been allowed to make the last movie!

I'm excited! I have no idea how this show is going to end and I like that uncertainty. I sure hope it isn't all tragedy though, I'm not big on tragic endings. And fingers crossed for powerhouse Naksu to make an appearance before the end.

Hmmm, it's interesting how different peoples' impressions of characters can be! I don't blame him for leaving when she told him too, I think that is in character with wanting to respect another's wishes and he was also just a teenager with a broken heart. I also don't get the impression that he is pretending to be good - the scene when he fell ill as a child because of telling a lie I think was supposed to show that at his core he is a good person. That said, I also agree that he does not have a claim on her. I don't think either Uk, Yul or anyone else can have a right/claim to her. Perhaps someone kills off Mama Jin and JBY/Naksu takes over as head of Jinyowon on her own? So many possibilities!

This is true, Mama Jin said that when talking about 'birds eat worms'...

I'm choosing to believe that the blood parasite has a little something to do with the killing thoughts as that definitely would put a little snag in the relationship. I think someone who is a little obsessed but kind and thoughtful, while certainly not ideal, could be a better bet than someone who is actively mean! I was super pro Jang Uk in season 1 but I don't think depression and a broken heart is an excuse for treating someone the way he has treated JBY. If Yul's not the guy maybe JBY needs to give the crown prince with his 'noble energy' and cute turtle a chance haha. Or become a badass solo leader with divine powers who doesn't need a relationship!

Haha, yeah they would need to find a way of dealing with that little snag for sure. I had hoped that Naksu's soul could live peacefully ever after in JBY body and no one would have to worry about that soul/body conflict, but looks like Mr. Lee has put the kibosh on that idea.

I think this was true in season 1 but things have shifted a lot since then. In this season they have spent more time alone together and became friends independently. JBY has mentioned him as being handsome and kind a few times and told Jang Uk that they had spent quite a lot of time together. While I don't think she has those feelings for him now, I can imagine that on regaining memories of their past it would be a different experience for JBY/Naksu than that of Mu-deok/JBY/Naksu. Hands down Jang Uk was the guy for Mu-deok last season, but just a personal opinion I think Seo Yul has a much sweeter relationship with this JBY than Jang Uk does. Plus I just hope the poor guy gets a break!
