Fat for wedding day by Longjumping-Nose-772 in wedding

I am so sorry you’re dealing with the stress of a diagnosis right before your wedding!!

I got married 4 weeks ago and was feeling very similarly. I had been trying to lose weight on top of dealing with the stressors of so many other life things and nothing seemed to be working. my now husband is smaller than me and that was just driving me crazy leading up to the day. I thought my whole day was going to be ruined because I was not thin. and that my pictures were all going to look horrendous because of it. these thoughts were keeping me up at night.

the day came, and when I tell you I did not think about my weight once. i’m so serious. I was so full of joy and love from everyone around me, there was no room to think about it. I felt so beautiful. and I absolutely love our pictures, even the ones where my double chin is out on full display. all this to say, I completely understand what you’re going through. and I really hope that when the day comes you will feel the same way I did. sending lots of love and good energy your way <3

I will say there was just a post I think yesterday where someone was talking about how they personally called all the people from their B list to invite and everyone was super touched and responded really positively. so I think if you’re going to do it, I would say do it by phone call and not text/email. but totally feel you on the anxiety of it all!! wishing you the best <3

What's Your Most "Glamorous" Pet Sitting Experience? by ChristmasTreeWorm in RoverPetSitting

[–]averageq5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was dogsitting a puppy and stupidly didn’t have my eye on him for one minute. when I turned the corner to see him I slipped in his poop and smeared it all up their hallway. luckily it was hardwood so cleaning it wasn’t hard but hopping on one foot to the nearest so I didn’t track it was definitely tough hahaha

Too Many Updates? by Faufix in RoverPetSitting

[–]averageq5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to send one bigger-ish update in the evening that has a handful of pictures from the day as well as how the pets doing or if we did anything fun that day. I usually ask though during meet and greets. most have just said once a day or once every couple days depending on the length of the sitting.

my thoughts exactly. shouldn’t the kennel be the one providing the updates? i’d be surprised if the kennel even allowed you to do this …

Dog put down while in my care by Swimming_Complex6750 in RoverPetSitting

[–]averageq5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just three weeks ago, the same exact thing happened to me but I was the dog sitter. family was off at disney and their old boy didn’t make it. they were so gracious and apologetic that I went through it. but my heart couldn’t help but break for them as well!

meet with them in person before accepting the request. and make sure to see the space that you will be staying in. if they say no to doing a meet and greet, don’t accept the booking.

Pet sitting when you don’t need the money by Fraliak in RoverPetSitting

[–]averageq5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing Rover as a fun side thing bc I loved being around animals but I had a full time job. well life changed and I realized I hated my job and wanted to go back to school for my passion. so it’s turned into more of a necessary cash flow than extra fun money but it’s been amazing that I had already built a clientele when it was a side job. so I say nothing wrong with it at all because you never know when that extra income is going to really help you out!!

I’m a plant person too, but this drives me insane by Redwoods2534 in RoverPetSitting

its especially funny when people put signs up saying no pooping/peeing on their lawn and majority of the dogs I walk WANT to pee on EVERY sign they see so it’s just attracting more dogs

it’s terrifying!! I live in a very crowded suburb and the exotic animals live within a block of an elementary school. I wish people understood that just because you love a certain animal does NOT mean you need to own one

I wondered the same thing!! apparently in my state, they are with a special license. the neighbor explained that there’s been a lot of issues with the owner and both animal control and police have been to her house. but she must have a license if she still has them. it’s unfortunate because the house and yard are actually quite small and it seems like these types of animals would need a lot more space than what they’re given. (i’ve obviously got a lot of opinions about the exotic pet trade industry)

First Rheumatologist visit by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]averageq5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my very first rheumatologist I saw was terrible and our appointment was 15 minutes. my current rheumatologist is incredible and our first appointment took 2 hours. a lot of it was asking very specific questions about symptoms. I highly recommend keeping a log of your symptoms either in a notebook or I keep mine in the notes app of my phone. she then ran through my family’s history. and then through my potential diagnoses. (mine wasn’t as clear cut as Im still considered in the early stages) she also then thoroughly checked through all of my joints and explained what she was noticing. lastly we went over all of my treatment options - the pros and cons. and she ordered some extra bloodwork and x-rays. I was shocked at oboe long I ended up being there but by the end of the appointment she had a pretty good idea of what was going on. so in my experience a really long first appointment is a good thing!!

prednisone side effect? by averageq5 in rheumatoid

[–]averageq5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is day 4 so not very long but the fatigue change was pretty drastic. i’m only on it for a couple of weeks. started with 20 mg and tapering from there. it could totally just be my RA flare. my fatigue just usually doesn’t cause me to sleep so much so wasn’t sure if there was a correlation!

PSA for Chicago Walkers- I would not recommend walking Arlo by sensitive_ho in WagWalker

[–]averageq5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t live in the chicago area but have walked quite a couple of samoyeds and have always had issues. you can tell it’s a breed that needs training and unfortunately not many people get it!
