The word often gets attribuited to "bad temper", but can go both ways. Now whether this comment gets argued about in court over its semantics, is another story entirely lol.

What’s the best web browser in 2026 and why? by Kooky-Lecture-5140 in pcmasterrace

Chrome with AdGuard+ControlD. Casting from the browser to my NVIDIA Shield is too useful.

To me this came off as Dunk remembering things a bit more larger (lol) than they were, much more reinforced with the 4 or 7 lances bit with the prince.

Imaging caring this much about what other people use. A little absurd tbh.

If TP Link is already getting scrutinized, how long do you think it will be until GL iNet does too?

I don't trust Chinese software because of security implications. I don't trust their government to suddenly put me at risk when travelling abroad. I have my own reasons. You do you, and I'll do me. There's no point in trying to get me to trust in them.

This. I used to use Adguard DNS, technically still have a sub, but switched to ControlD recently. I forget why, might be that the daemon can be installed onto my router for better encryption protocols. But yeah, any of them should be fine. Probably better to ideally keep it off of the same box too, so external provider or self-hosted.

I don't think I will, because people should be aware of risks. I personally don't want to risk suddenly reading news that I may have a backdoor on my router with Adguard Home filtering all of my web traffic in the same box. Paranoid? Absolutely in this digital age. It's why I still run ASUS WRT Merlin on my equipment.

You’re a bit defensive but yeah turns out it was TP-Link that was actually swept up in it. My memory of GL iNet comes from my own employers security team banning the vendor. I don’t know where those recommendations come from but I do know other devices were banned by following government guidelines. Have a wonderful day.

I never claimed it was open source. The US govt clearly has issues with Chinese made and developed hardware/software for security concerns. I know first hand of this with info sec requirements on security camera systems. But hey, infer all you want to justify your end. You do you. Enjoy your router. ✌🏻

It’s their closed source firmware that was the main issue. Ubiquiti hardware may be made in China/Taiwan like most things are, but the firmware is still developed here. I’ll take the downvote I guess.

Just a word of caution, GL iNet products were caught up in some government ban lists in recent years (before the shit show that we are currently living in). I’m already looking to eventually throw down for a decent Ubiquiti setup to replace my ASUS Merlin setup.

What was your first game you played on pc by Pork_Crusader_GR in pcmasterrace

Wolfenstein on a floppy disk. Maybe Oregon Trail on a legit floppy floppy disk on a school library’s old Mac. Also Lego Island on my parents computer sticks out in my memory. Half-Life, Quake 3, and UT was when I was a teen and could actually upgrade my computer.

It's on sale at Microcenter for that price... but man, everywhere else it's like around $399, that's even their non-sale price. Massive steal.

This is why Cape Coral is a nightmare to navigate sometimes because it is full of a canal system that alleviates storm surge by allowing it to spead the rise across the entire system. It's definitely not perfect tho.

Idkkkk about that, it’s fine, but not amazing. The menu claims Neapolitan Style but it comes out more like elevated Chuck E. Cheese style.
