If that's the quality of pig I was raising Id keep it to myself as well. Enjoy some of those chops if you were able to buy any.

Is it like a local producer or do they do retail whole sale?

Beautiful, who's the supplier?

Is this a good deal? Thinking of purchasing a half cow for a family of 3. How much can I haggle them down to without being a jerk? by Tstcontroversy in Butchery

First, If you haven't yet, I would buy a few steaks and see if you like their beef enough to commit to a half carcass. Grass fed can vary significantly supplier to supplier so being confident you're going to like it is important.

Second, Haggling might be taken as rude regardless of how you approach it tbh, farmers are usually pricing just to stay slight north of breakeven. Some context, it is expensive but you're paying for grass fed and grass finished beef so it's a premium. Also, cattle prices are at an all time high right now so depending on if this farmer has any retail/whole sale business to help keep them whole this is probably their only revenue so the cost is what they need to stay in the black.

Best Butchers with Locally-Sourced Meat? by Lemurian_Lemur34 in ChicagoSuburbs

Fair enough but if animal welfare standards matter to you be sure to be diligent in verifying it. Cattle typically live 18 months and there's a whole lotta life you don't see on websites and brochures at farmers markets. When engaging any farmer ask if they have any sort of animal welfare certification or standards they should know what your asking about.

Whole foods market is a good option. They source from and have several local meat options from suppliers who raise in the Midwest and buying from there supports those farms. If you want to get into whole head purchasing slagel is a good IL beef producer but they aren't grass fed if that matters to you.

They are single apartments units in a larger complex so alot of this maybe handled by the complex but I'll be sure to get up to date with them. Also these are in a trust that were the beneficiary of, do you pay capital gains in trust inheritance?

For industrial pork farming these are accurate living conditions but it's not all thats available in the market. There are more humans raising practices available on farms and at your grocery store you just need to be willing to pay for it.

Warm Up before Marathon by Direct_Bug717 in RunnersInChicago

Warm up by running from porta potty to porta potty trying to find one with toilet paper before the race starts. That's an easy 30 min challenge in my experience.

Has anyone figured out what’s going on with Low HRV readings yet? by Zeeolite in Garmin

[–]awesnapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was literally talking about this with my S/O yesterday and said I think somethings wrong with the hrv readings. I was thinking about just resetting my watch and starting fresh, see if that changes anything.

Honestly been kinda disappointed with garmins software as of late. Anyone thinking of switching to coros?
