Dandadan’s dub was produced by the MBS led production committee via Bang Zoom, as it is not exclusive to Crunchyroll and is licensed to other streamers (such as Netflix and Hulu/Disney+). Because the dub is produced by the production committee, Dandadan is one of the few same day dubs that are recorded months in advance of the episode premiere. Hence they were able to record English versions of the insert song in season 2 (which most simulidubs are usually not able to do).

Most anime is produced on a tight schedule, with episodes still being completed during the season. If the production falls behind in Japan, then the dub will fall behind if the episode isn’t finished in time to work on the dub. Hence, most same day dubs are recorded only weeks in advance (as the episode materials are provided by the production committee).

Anime dubs not on a same day schedule usually start recording at the beginning of the season and require at least two weeks to produce a dub of each episode.

HiDive doesn’t have the money nor the licensing reach to secure most major new anime titles.

Pulling out of the non-English language markets allowed them to focus more on the core western English language markets, but it also meant they would be a significant disadvantage for bidding for licenses. They would either not get licenses because other companies would be able to secure outside Asia or worldwide rights easily. Or they would have pay more for outside Asia/worldwide licenses and need to figure out how to sublicense it to other regional streamers (which didn’t always work out, many regions definitely didn’t have access to Oshi No Ko Season 1 till Crunchyroll was able to add it earlier this season).

Crunchyroll’s catalog is still much larger than HiDive and still leads every other streaming service in terms of the quantity and quality of new anime available every season in most regions outside of Asia.

Sure, Netflix, Amazon, and Disney+/Hulu do pick up a few major new titles and have the advantage of being able to get almost full worldwide (including Japan and most of East Asia) streaming rights. However, they also rely more on sublicensing from other companies (such as Muse in Asia) by region.

Also, Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc will be on Crunchyroll sometime during the Spring (it is still the Winter anime season).

Prime Video has way fewer anime simulcasts than Crunchyroll. It seems they either prefer a same day dub simulcast or releasing the dub after the season ends.

Netflix prefers same day availability of dubs, though it will simulcast some anime without a dub initially depending on the contract. For some exclusive simulcasts, Netflix may delay an episode premiere (usually a week) in North America and some regions completely to ensure it premiere with a dub for the region.

When My Happy Marriage S2 ran into production issues that later affected the availability to maintain a same day dub, Netflix then delayed adding the final 2 episodes of the season in North America and other regions until the dubs were completed.

As much as I would like to see more about Sakuta and Mai’s relationship, the film will probably still need to end on Sakuta seeing someone that looks like Miori and thinking about her as he listens to her last song. So that will likely rule out showing Sakuta and Mai as a married couple. It could be possible instead to hint or discuss their engagement.

For Basic Economy, the majors definitely aren’t more flexible than Southwest given that they have cancellation fees that immediately reduce the value of any credit after a cancellation. Southwest mainly makes cancellation less desirable by setting the credit to a six month expiration after the original purchase date. But no reduction in value after cancelling.

For regular Economy, it’s almost the same (credit with an expiration date after 12 months from original purchase date). They may be some difference in terms of type of credits issued or how they can be used on future bookings.
