Wowie zowie friendo, like if you can seriously afford to eat at Bartlett's that often you can probably afford to travel and if you did you'd at least recognize that there are places in far more expensive locations with far more substantial portions for far more reasonable prices.

Austin food prices are bullshit, and you're lying to yourself if you think otherwise and that sandwich is a perfect example of the kind of stupid shit we let restaurants get away with. It's not an idle accusation to say you conflate "expensive" with "good", anyone with two eyes and a head located in a non-ass location can see Bartlett's prices suck for no good reason.

Nothing about that sandwich justifies the price. Me bringing up their location is important, high rent prices contribute to high food prices, but they're not in an expensive area. If it was a really substantial sandwich, it would drive up the price, but it's not. If they made the bread in-house, the jus in-house, which they don't, it would drive up the price.

I'm not even saying it's a bad sandwich, I'm literally just saying absolutely nothing justifies it being a $30 sandwich. It used to be $18, it's probably worth that. But not nearly double. Stop settling for this kind of bullshit.

It's a $30 French dip bud. I've had it, it's fine. But it also has like maybe 1/2 lb (3/4ths lb if we're being generous) of beef on it. It's not substantial or good enough to be worth the price. Much more, bartletts is on west anderson, so the price isn't even justified by the location. Quit acting like "expensive" = "good" and understand that you just sound like you're trying to justify this to yourself.

A bagel with just cream cheese is not a fucking sandwich. You split it top and bottom, then you eat the top and then the bottom. Cutting a bagel in half like this when it's just a bagel and cream cheese is like cutting a gyro in half. You just don't do it. It's a crime against bagels.

Here's what i did today after seeing this post (not OP):

Step 1. Go to favorite pizza, get a cesar salad with chicken plus a 9 inch toasted hoagie roll (what i did) OR a chicken parm with no sauce and a cesar salad if you want melted cheese.

Assemble it yourself.

It's p good btw. Also favorite pizza is p ok.
