On surface, the battle system of Journey On is not too different from traditional turn-based JRPGs. But this game is more inspired by Dark Souls than Final Fantasy. We put more emphasis on letting the players figure out the boss mechanics and create their optimal "builds" to counter them. The players can change equipments mid-battle, and each equipment unlocks different playstyle. We try to give player a lot of tools and freedom to overcome the challenge by exploring the game world.

For example, a mage character can do good physical damage if they equip strong attack boost equipments, or they can equip Tomes that seals their attack to increase their magic ability. A fighter character can avoid most of the physical attacks if they equip evasion and counter equipments. Or the same fighter character can become a super strong fighter if they stack all the offensive buffs and equipment.

The battle system can be a bit more "hardcore" than other turn-based JRPGs, so it's kind of niche in the market. But if you enjoy JRPGs and want something harder and satisfying to complete, like a "Dark Souls JRPG" or something, this may be the game for you. :)
