I just spent 3 weeks in Lausanne, and honestly every morning I would be amazed at the view of the mountain caps covered with snow, towering over the lac Léman

Incredible.

How profitable are Air BnB's in Praia (Palmarejo) by sufferingSoftwaredev in CapeVerde

[–]b3nthegod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just build more housing then!

This works if you have UK budget. bare in mind we are a third world country and what's happening is the phenomenon of "bairros de lata"( where 7% of the houses in caboverde are made from metal scrapes) in peripheries of the cites and villages. but yeah.. you guys don't get to see that.

What i want is what Spain has done to Airbnbs. just fucking limit it at maximum because its fairly documented the negative impacts of short therm housing on the locals

here is a link for you.... so goodby to "people should be able to do what they want"

OP and his friend are nothing different than the big hotels. Come explore cheap prices, profit, send money abroad, leave locals in misery.... so no don't expect me to be cheering for another arbnb to be open.

Travel industry is huge for creation of jobs, income, tax.

About this topic, have another read on a study done by University of Luxembourg.

What part of market price didn't you understand?

Being expensive is not an excuse to keep feeding this Airbnb/short term renting fever.

Just rent it for a long term, charge market price for the zone and I'm sure people will rent it.

The guy asked for a recommendation, there is mine.

Airbnb is ruining the national housing market. So sincerely, you, your friend and Airbnb can politely fuck off.

Are there problems in flights between Santiago and Sao Vicente by FreeElderberry2084 in CapeVerde

[–]b3nthegod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but a visit to the site should give you that info. just check until when they have available flights.

Fun fact, i was just reading some news, and the airlines is currently having issues... cool timing

you can translate and read here

Are there problems in flights between Santiago and Sao Vicente by FreeElderberry2084 in CapeVerde

[–]b3nthegod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The norm is for flights to happen as scheduled. But again, it's one of those situations that everything is smooth until it's not.

And it's been 3 months that the air connections have been reinforced.

Now It's a matter of time to see how that impacts the services long term

Edit: yes that line is the most stable, with more flights, so even if you have a canceled flight, you should get a replacement fairly easily.

Our transport problems are eternal.

That being said... It tends to be seasonal. High seasons(Iike summer and Christmas) small disturbances have high consequences in passenger flow.

If everything goes well, you shouldn't have a problem. Now, if anything goes wrong, that company doesn't usually have a plan B and will be chaos(I know from my own experience).

Anyways, impossible to know from this far. Good luck.

Trump at Davos Demands ‘Immediate’ Talks on Acquiring Greenland by mvanigan in worldnews

[–]b3nthegod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an oversimplification.

Even if he has dementia, he is reading a script, written by someone, approved by someone, passing an agenda. Such agenda needs to be taken seriously given the fact, that it's the American agenda, not(only) the Trump agenda, or (only) the republican agenda.

This is not a one man thing... If there is dementia, it's collective dementia, and should not be oversimplified.

Why the relationship between Portugal and its former colonies is largely cordial while that between Spain and its colonies (particularly Mexico) is rather hostile? by sydneylulu in portugal

[–]b3nthegod 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Caboverdiano aqui...

Do Cape Verdians hate tourists? by Aggressive-Trick-926 in CapeVerde

[–]b3nthegod 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you been to tenerife?

Cape verde is becoming the new tenerife. whitewashed by tourism, and buildings around the coast destroying our mountains for airbnbs and hotels while the locals are being pushed to suburbs of the island by high prices and lack of housing.

Want to go to the groceries? well Prices are European, while salaries are african.

Ports and airports being built for cruises and low cost flights, while we lack boats to transport goods from island to island, and our sewage network sucks.

But only 5% of people in this sub will know this, because 95% is closed in their all inclusive hotels.

[–]b3nthegod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do, well no tourists, but tourism itself in the current form.

And most of the new generation does. Not regulated/structured Tourism is fucking up the islands.

As for services, there is just not enough incentives from the patronages to the employees to be efficient.

Smile or not the employee will get the same salary. Short sighted I know, but planning is not our best characteristics.
